#1 seton hall -9The Seton Hall Pirates find Seton Hall head coach Bobby Gonzalez had his team coming on strong down the stretch during the regular season with seven wins in nine games, but once the Big East Conference Tournament began the struggles were just beginning. The Pirates, posted their second straight win in a span of three days against Providence with a 109-106 decision at Madison Square Garden, but the following day resulted in the team scoring barely half as many points in a 68-56 loss to Notre Dame. Nevertheless, the Hall still finished 19-12 overall. As for the Red Raiders, a fifth seed, they came out of the gate on fire this season with nine straight wins and 12 victories in the first 13 outings. However, a closer look at the schedule reveals an extremely weak non- conference slate and once the Big 12 games began, Tech was clearly overmatched. The Red Raiders finished with a record of 16-14, losing seven consecutive bouts to close out the regular season. A win over Colorado in the conference tournament (82-67) was followed by a loss to top-ranked Kansas (80-68)This game marks the first-ever meeting between these two schools on the hardwood .The Red Raiders built the majority their positive stats during their non- conference schedule when they won 13 of their 16 outings and outscored opponents by almost nine points per contest. When it comes to Big 12 matchups, not only did Tech see its scoring drop from 79.7 ppg to 72.9 ppg, is also allowed a whopping 81.5 ppg, compared to just 70.9 ppg versus teams from outside the league this season. Recognized as two of the better players in the conference are Mike Singletary and John Roberson, both of whom put in serious minutes every game and came up with 14.7 and 14.6 ppg, respectively. Singletary accounted for a team-best 6.8 rpg and Roberson 178 assists as the pair combined to hit 286 of the unit's 590 free-throw conversions this season.
One of the top scorers in the Big East this season, Jeremy Hazell was responsible for 20.9 ppg as he shot 42.5 percent from the field. Hazell was among the league leaders with his 98 three-point baskets, but he converted just 34.3 percent of his tries, almost half of the team's entire total (204) over the course of 31 games. Also putting together a very strong campaign was Herb Pope who averaged a double-double with his 11.8 ppg and 11.1 rpg, the latter placing him among the best in the Big East.
Texas Tech may have played well against non-conference teams this season, but it rarely met an opponent as talented as Seton Hall, especially on the road, which is why the Red Raiders will likely be one-and-done.

#2.VCU-2.5The Virginia Commonwealth Rams and George Washington Colonials will square off in first-round action of the College Basketball Invitational in Washington, D.C. advantage george washington but vcu has had a very good road campaign so that does not worry me.
The Rams rolled up 22 victories on the season and went a solid 11-7 in Colonial Athletic Association play this season. The team had a successful run in the CAA Tournament as well, with wins over Delaware and George Mason, before falling to top-seeded Old Dominion in semifinal action in overtime, 73-69.
The Colonials' stint in the Atlantic 10 Tournament wasn't as long, as George Washington bowed out in first-round action to Dayton (70-60). The team now enters this tournament with a three-game losing streak in tow and is just 16-14 overall, finishing up league play at a mere 6-10.
This is just the second all-time meeting between these two teams. VCU earned the win in the first meeting.
VCU has had a successful season in had coach Shaka Smart's first with the team. The Rams present themselves as a strong offensive squad, averaging 75.4 ppg on a steady .457 shooting effort. Larry Sanders is clearly the leader on the floor for VCU, pacing the tram in scoring (14.6 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg) and blocked shots (75). Joey Rodriguez and Bradford Burgess give the team plenty of perimeter balance at 12.2 and 10.5 ppg, respectively. Rodriguez is not just a scorer, as he leads the team with hefty 180 assists on the year.
Inconsistency at the offensive end of the floor has been a problem for George Washington this season. The team is averaging a modest 70.2 ppg on a rather pedestrian .435 shooting. Damian Hollis leads the team in scoring at 13.3 ppg and although he also paces the team on the boards, he is only averaging 4.8 caroms per outing. Lasan Kromah ranks second on the team in scoring (11.6 ppg) and leads the way defensively with 59 steals. Tony Taylor is a viable offensive contributor as well, chipping in with 9.4 ppg.
The Colonials are a rather disappointing 8-6 on their home floor this season, while VCU has had mild success on the road. Look for the Rams to earn the road win here, behind the play of Sanders down low

#3.Nc state+3.5-NC State is making its 11th appearance in this tournament and is 15-12 all- time in NIT games. The Wolfpack have a second-place finish, two third-place showings a fourth-place finish to their credit, and the most recent appearance came in 2007. NC State's 19-15 overall record is solid, but the team finished just 5-11 against ACC competition during the regular season. Still, a pair of improbable wins in the conference tournament earned the club an NIT bid.
As for South Florida, it has seven previous NIT appearances to its credit, having won four of the 11 games it has played as part of the tourney. Not since 2002 have the Bulls been a member of this field. They are 20-12 overall this season and won half of their league games in the rugged Big East Conference. Unfortunately for USF, the NCAA Tournament selection committee didn't deem the club's overall body of work to be strong enough to warrant an invite.
Tracy Smith isn't a household name by any means and isn't even mentioned among the top players in the ACC in most circles. However, the NC State forward certainly has the numbers to warrant discussion, as he is scoring 16.9 ppg on 53.4 percent shooting from the floor while also pulling down 7.5 rpg. There is only one other double-digit scorer on the roster for the Wolfpack, as Dennis Horner provides 11.2 ppg. Javier Gonzalez contributes 9.8 ppg to go along with team-highs of 124 assists and 42 steals, and his scoring output would be better if not for 39.9 percent shooting from the floor. NC State is generating 67.3 ppg while allowing 64.5 ppg to its opponents.
As good as Tracy Smith is for NC State, South Florida's Dominique Jones is an even better player. The explosive guard is scoring 21.3 ppg despite constant double teaming, and he is also pulling down 6.2 rpg to go along with 118 assists and 53 steals, proof of his tremendous versatility. Augustus Gilchrist contributes 13.8 ppg for USF, and he grabs 6.1 rpg as well. Jarrid Famous checks in with 10.5 ppg and a team-best 7.5 rpg, and he is shooting 52.1 percent from the floor. Rounding out a foursome of double-digit scorers is Chris Howard with 10.4 ppg. Much more than just a decent scorer, Howard has dished out 124 assists against only 55 turnovers. The Bulls are netting 67.8 ppg overall, slightly better than the 66.2 ppg that they are allowing.
im thinking here that nc state if not sidney lowe wants to be here more and every since i've know them always come amp for the post season its more likely than not a close game and im counting on the fact that florida is a terrible jump shooting team that will miss the basket early an often

#1. St johns +7 too many points for a st johns team that does play hard and is very athletic saw them a few times in the big east tournament and they surprise me they'll hit enough shots to make a ball game of it and hang around till the end maybe winning outright if the 3ball is not falling for the tigers

#1.florida +5- been hearing so much about this jimmy ferrdette boy they must have won the mwc? naw they didnt, the regular season championship? naw they didnt . dont get me wrong he sounds like he can play and he put up numbers like he can play but im sure by now billy has devised a plan all game to let somebody else beat em .so who's gonna check the big bois of the gators when they have the ball byu better not miss cause they probabloy wont see a bigger disparity in rebounding since there last non conference game versus the big boys

#2.wake+5- its all about who sux more and im thinking texas by a small margin since there giving points i'll take the lesser of the two weakies texas has really fell of the map since day one wake gets a chance at a little redemption atleast to prove they belong at the table because the comittee might have kicked off a better deserving squad they'll come out fired up a ist half bet might be the better of the two at +3

#3.butler-2.5 they actually to me has taken the crown of the small schools and utep is about 4 or 5 places down in the pecking order so the king lives plus i got butler in the final four hey who knows right i think there has solid has any out there and hayward is so underrated he can create shoot from the perimeter defend pass and his partners are all savy vets great coaching so if the games coming down to the wire im not counting them out

#5.north Texas+16 just think that this might be a little too many in the point department mean greens can actually fill it up themselves

#2. texas last win vesus a team that had a legit big man was against mich st dec 22nd
if aminu shows up wake wins outright only problem
vs miami 3-10 11pts L
vs clemson 6-15 18 pts W
vs florida st 0-2 0pts 28 mins L
vs unc 2-7 7pts L
vs vtech 8-15 25 pts L (only by 4points was up by 11 10 minutes left in 2nd half)
texas is gonna miss ther freethrows there last in the big 12 and might has well be last in the ncaa (324th)
huge advantage in a game where everybody gonna be tight in the first 10 minutes needing freethrows to find there shots and last 10 minutes to feel like there doing something positive on offense when defense has tighten up into lock down mode
so if aminu has 10 shots by halftime the bet has already one cause texas aint making no damn freethrows .
