Austin Peay will put its six-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Richmond, Ky., to face Eastern Kentucky.
The Governors also will be putting their 5-0 OVC road record on the line against a young, but improving Colonels squad. After suffering through a four-game post-holiday losing streak, EKU has won four of its last six contests, losing a dfficult 68-64 decision at Morehead State, Saturday. APSU held off the Colonels, 82-79, back earlier this month in Clarksville.
Some conference stats I would like to make you aware of. There are 10 teams in the OVC.
scoring offense: APU ranked 2nd at 77.6ppg. EKU ranked 4th at 72.6ppg field goal %: APU ranked 1st at .478. EKU ranked 2nd at .466 3pt field goal%: APU ranked 1st at .411. EKU ranked 3rd at .387 3pt field goals made: EKU ranked 1st at 10.6pg (2nd in nation) APU ranked 3rd 7.6pg.
scoring defense: EKU 2nd at 65.4ppg. APU 8th at 76.1ppg field goal % defense: EKU ranked 6th at .448. APU ranked 10th at .458. 3pt field goal% defense: EKU ranked 6th at .349. APU ranked 8th at .353.
These are two very good offensive teams, especially at shooting 3pt shots. At BEST they are very average defensive teams. I believe at this time that Austin Peay is probably the best all around team in the league and will have a big inside advantage in this game but the best team doesn't always win. I do think this will be a close game and don't really like a side. I think the best bet on this game is the over. Both of these teams can put up lots of points fast. So I look for a game of runs. In 5 conference road games the totals in Austin Peay games has only gone under this number once, at Murray St., who plays a lot of unders.

Weather Update: not sure if it makes a difference.
All across Kentucky and Tennessee there is freezing rain and ice the rest of today into tomorrow. What is hitting Richmond, Ky. now came through my hometown last night. I know here the SEMO campus is closed today. I don't know if the EKU campus is open or closed. I'm sure the AP team is already there so I'm sure the game will be played. I'm not sure what kind of turnout they might have for the game. I know here in my home town the streets are covered with ice and most businesses are closed. Just a headsup to all you people that are enjoying sunshine today and unaware of what's going on elsewhere.
