Not hating but we all know you and Clepto think Tiger is the only great player out there.


BUt in reality No Clear cut favorite. Look at total results from major to major. Adam Scott, Tiger, Luke Donald, Rory after this performance.

If Tiger could have closed at either major and at least been close at the end it would be different. Keegan Bradley has to be in the discussion too.

The official world ranking has the top ten pegged pretty accurately.  Although, I would have Webb Simpson ranked a little lower.

1. McIlroy
2. Donald
3. Woods
4. Westwood
5. Simpson
6. Scott
7. Rose
8. Bubba
9. Dufner
10. Stricker

I would have Luke Donald ranked way lower.  He hasn't won anything on this side of the pond.

guess what dude,  he doesnt care about being the best player in the world.. he cares about winning majors, and in that regard, 2012 was an epic failure...  especially when his blowhard groupies thought he had 3 of em won going to the weekend...  now, you love tiger, and i despise him...  i will admit he is very good right now, will you admit that any wins he piles up at this stage are meaningless if they are not majors ?

They are not meaningless wins by any stretch, even he will say that.  He focuses on majors, and cares more about those than any other tournament obviously. 

But there is nobody else in the world right now that has played better in 2012.

great, as a tiger hater,  i hope he wins 6 tournaments a year for the next 5 years,  but none are majors...  will you take that ?

I like to see him win majors because of the impact that it has on golf...I'm sure he would obviously not take it.  Either way, if he does win 30 more tournaments and finishes at 105 wins in his career...he is still the best golfer ever.

not if he doesnt reach jack's mark of 18 hes not... that is the benchmark, he himself said it from the time he was 6 years old...  if he doesnt reach it, he has his pecker to thank

Any reasonable person knows he is the best there ever was/is and if you doubt that you are just lying to yourself. So go ahead and type away on these forums knowing that any legit non-biased discussion group would end up with him as the GOAT.

Many of the top players of the last 40 years have openly said the same.

As far as best player the last 3 years I think NW said it best that no one has been able to distance themselves form the pack.

like i said, if all you groupies wanna call him the best of all time, thats great, go ahead...   he can have that moniker, and finish with 14 majors..   now, if he gets to 15 16 17 18, i have no argument,  but until then.....   

 i consider myself quite reasonable, thank you...  and any legit non biased discussion is impossible,  because for every person like me who dislikes the man and is biased against him, there are plenty who knob him off and are therefore biased towards him

Best in the world?  He is scared shitless to hit a driver.Keep leaving yourself 230 in on par 4s.

Donald is so bad on weekdays on majors... then he shoots ultra low on sundays when it doesn't matter... it's so weird... I think Tiger is the best, he just need to win 1.. then the majors will come in bunches... Mcilroy did nothing until yesterday after his US Open win... so its wide open but I'll take Tiger overall

Tiger's 3 wins this year all came on courses where he had a lot of history and success.  On courses where he hasn't played a lot, he still comes in as a big fav and fading him has been great $$$$ for the most part, because he always has at least 1 stinker round.  I'll believe he's "back" when he can start going anywhere on any given day and win, like he used to.

As far as picking the best, that's tough and it depends on your criteria.  If you look at ceiling only it's tough to not pick McIlroy.  If you go more by consistency then it's a tough call.

McIlroy. I've stood by Dufner all year, but I got to admit, right now...Rory is the best in the world. As great as Tiger can still be sometimes, he's just not consistent enough yet. I'm not writing him off whatsoever, because we see what he can still do despite all the troubles. Right now, I say 1.Rory, 2.Dufner, 3.Tiger

Westwood in top 5 is a joke. He has missed cuts in majors this year and won nothing. Dufner deserves a look

And CM if you are gonna look at wins you have to look at Mahan but he is clearly not #1 right now. Tiger is very a good and belongs in the conversation but by no means the clear #1.

Woods, Donald, Dufner, Rory, Westwood, Webb.

It's actually a fascinating question right now. You can make a case for 7 or 8 of them. Look how many different opinions you have in here alone. I think Westwood & Donald's time has come & gone, though.

Personally I find it very hard to endorse players that still play anything more than 30% on the Euro Tour.  It's a quality tour no doubt, but as Rory has figured out, if you want to really make a name for yourself, the PGA Tour is the place to do it. 

My top 10 would read like so....

2. Rory
3. Adam Scott
4. Jason Dufner
5. Luke Donald
6. Webb Simpson
7.  Bubba Watson
