Question

Both teams would be ecstatic with a draw. SF guarantees #1 seed. Garcilaso guarantees advancing. SF loss means they lose #1 seed. Garcil loss means that Dep Tolima will probably advance on goal differential.

SF isn't much better than Garcil as they tied 1-1 in their last meeting.

Doesn't this seem like a great match for a gentlemen's agreement to draw? Even if there isn't, I could simply see both teams not putting much effort on offense and being more worried about defense.

I don&#x27;t think that there would be a fix to draw here. Remember that a few days ago Olimpia and Newell&#x27;s Old Boys had a similar situation where they were both already in if they can hold out a draw to eliminate and not give U de Chile who had to rape Deportivo Lara by like 4 or 5 goals and hope that Olimpia would beat Newells. Well...Olimpia raped Newell&#x27;s 4-1 and left them with 10 men while U de Chile only won by 1 goal. Point is, at least in the Copa Liberadores, there is no gentleman&#x27;s agreement. Everyone is out for everyone else throats. BOL

I hear you, Slice - the only issue is that if Santa Fe beats RG tonight AND Tolima scores enough with a win in Cerro Porteno, Tolima could jump RG and thereby eliminate RG from advancing ... so RG is going to BE VERY CAREFUL to not lose tonight in Santa Fe. . .

There was an identical situation in Copa this year between Velez and Emelec where a draw was beneficial to both teams in their last game. It ended 0-0.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;A draw fix probably doesn&#x27;t happen everytime (hence the ? in my subject heading).  But it might happen enough times where it&#x27;s worth a bet.  And, even if it&#x27;s not a "fix", if both teams focus solely on defense because they&#x27;re playing not to lose, it has the same effect as a fix.
