Both goals have been directly his fault.  It is amazing how one player in the back can affect a game so negatively.  You dont realize it until you see them out there.  Ream early in the touney and now bornstein. Its amazing how one player can have such an impact.

Farmer...that's the reason I want a Pujol type player on this back-line. We fuck up just about everything a defense can fuck up. If it's not a miskick, then lack of speed, or else foolishly holding a guy onsides.

Not even mentioning the moronic foul in the box earlier in the tourney.  I loved how Cherondolo crossed the balls earlier in the tourney, but that's clearly not gonna help us the rest of the game.

I'd hedge your US future on...Mex +125 2nd half

Yup, Mexican fans can write their thank you notes to Jonathan Bornstein.  If Cherundolo hadn't gotten hurt the US would have won this.  DAMMIT!

dont have any idea where bornstein was on that one but jones's lazy ass was right there.  Two guys that should not ever see the field again for the USA.

yeah, its so sad. usa could've had this , won 4-0 if they wanted....... if not for that idiot bornstein. singlehandedly affected the match more than anyone else on the field did

Bocanegra played as bad as 1 probably could on goal 4. I agree Jones was 1st lazy then didn't play the ball (probably he thought Bocanegra could step up) but the dude had just cleared a ball from the corner flag into the edge of the 18. Watch it a couple times, both players looked lost and out of place

Let's get some defenders and this squad doesn't look so bad

Not so sure the 4-0 scoreline, but US could've had a draw going into extra-time. Tho it seemed Chich had a lot more opp's than our entire frontline....Regardless it was nice to see the rest of the squad produce, just get a few defenders in there and this team isn't the laughing stock like many in the world think

Bornstein was pathetic but Howard did this team no favors either.  Going back to the Slovenia and Ghana games in the WC last year combined with today's performance he's really fallen on his face in important games.

Usa def was not playing as a team the mexican team was eating them alive constantly winning the position and playing the offside with very slow defenders i had mexico today but it was very sad to see the usa playing like 2nd diviaion team very sad. Yes borgnstain suck and howard made a couple of mistakes but remember that on the field they had 11 players and only a few played their hearts out

I can't complain about how Howard played those goals today, he attacked santos hoping a defender may shut him down...Well he was clearly let down. I can't remember the goals Ghana or Slovenia put in on him, but I also don't remember being pissed about his play. Today the 4th goal was lack of defense stepping up (bocanegra) or even Boc's moronic kick at the sideline back towards the top of the 18. Watch the play on DVR and you will see a foolish pass out (happened earlier in tourney as well but Howard saved them) and then a couple defenders who seemed lost....

I guess I'm saying I don't know what else Howard should've done? The back-line allows for easy balls to get behind them and then they either have mis-kicks or get outta place...In no way do I blame him for this defensive performance, I don't think he won the game for us, but I don't think he lost it either

I agree, Chich could've netted 2 more and none of us would've been shocked...Back-line just lacks something on the US, what it is I cannot pin down, speed or touch or cohesive tight lines, whatever it is they are the weak link on the team...W/ that said Cherondolo has 1 of the better crosses I've seen in a while, sometimes he tries to use his big foot when it's not needed, but out of a defender I'm fine w/ that.

That's why I've been begging for a Pujol type player this entire tourney...Not the greatest defender in the world, but keeps everyone in line and will have no problem knocking the fuck outta ya...Maybe my Hoosier squad will produce sum1 like that, just hope it comes in the next couple of yr's for the US sake...Otherwise teams will feast on our defense....
