simple question - why do you gamble?

i do it somewhat for the rush, but an idiotic part of me thinks, after losing for years, i'm gonna go on some massive heater making tons of money, and hten have some revelation on how to cap right, and make a living doing it. boy does that sound fucked up.
 
but what is scary is the need to have action. i crave action.

1. It's fun
2. Certain folks can afford it
3. Action ( barely have any fav team, because I handicap all divisions conferences, etc.
 
4.  It's fun to risk money and win more

Because for that 3 hours during a game the top priority is trying to win and the rest of my problems pretty much take a back seat.

I gamble because I'd rather give my money to the sportsbook than have my wife take it.

There have been several articles written about this. Believe it or not it was positive for us gamblers. I wish I could find the article. If I recall it stated that people who gamble or have additictions ( not drugs) are typically intellegent people who have a drive for excitement, this is not a bad thing. I stopped gambling for over a year, during that period I became addicted to other things. I can't sit still, my brain races a hundred miles an hour and I am always seeking excitement. I gamble because I love the challenge of beating Vegas at their own game and because i make some nice extra cash at the same time.  I can also say I am finally getting good at it and that makes me . Very good thread ; I love reading the replies

I like doin the research for the games.. + it makes the games a little  more interesting when you are watching them.

1) I am young and can afford to fail at this point in life.

2) Love sports and am watching the games anyway so why not throw down some cheese on them

3) Keeps me from going to Mohegan so often.

4) Make enough to pay for rent, food, etc without getting a job and while studying for school.

5) So I can visit this site daily

You make as much money gambeling on sports games as you did as a stock broker?  What sports do you play?  What is your average wager per game?  Really Curious!  Thanks

Agree with dennishopson (above).  It's  the thrill of victory, the rush.  The money helps if you win and if you have any sense, you don't bet enough to let the losses kill you.

I gamble for the money thats it .If I was losing money I'd stop in a second .I dont have any favorite teams and could careless who wins.I got introduced into college football gambling my a friend 10 years ago and he showed me the ropes.

IMO gambling is the same as trading stocks, you research your teams and invest in them just as you would research the stocks you want to invest in.
