You are going to the bonus points regardless of what you do anyways. There would be no problem in charging up $1500 just for groceries and gas for a month or two or for even one visit to the dentist.
The real stategy would be to accumulate hundreds of thousands of points to get free tickets to Europe and Asia numerous times a year.
