I miss the mushroom cheese steak from Capriotti's. I live in Illinois now and the closest one to me is in Madison, WI. One of these days I'll make a stop there when I visit my brother in Minnesota.
............or you could stay at a crap hotel, like Motel 6 or something. The idea is to not stay in the hotel!
But, if you're planning on getting drunk (that's ALWAYS good money management) you'd be better off staying where you're playing. LVH (formerly Hilton) has the best Sportsbook IMHO. It is a bit by itself off the Strip, but you can take the monorail to MGM and crawl back.
I got a Rewards card from Harrah's properties years back and have NEVER paid for a room since then... Reno, Vegas, Laughlin, Atlantic City and many other places also.
It helps that I play alot at thier places when I do go (must use card when playing).
I usually stay at the Paris in LV and it's ALWAYS free.
We just went there for the December holidays and came back a winner.
