Apple IPhone 4s Stolen in october and now this..ComMenT If YoU LiKe!

Question

Really weird thing happened. Iphone 4s stolen out of locked locker at gym last october. I immediately reported to ATT and then went to all carriers. Filed police report. Thought that's it. Done and gone and will never hear another thing. Then a week ago I get an email
from APPLE to rate my support call! I called them and they say someone has my old phone and apple has name and phone number of that person and they want to find a way to turn in, or something to that effect? They say they will only release infomation to law enforcement. I go to my local PD and the cop that filed the report makes me wait in the lobby and calls apple.
He says apple will get back with him via communication and/or email and take from there. StRaNgE to say the least?! I'm still not convinced I'll ever see that phone again but who knows????
Anyone ever have a similar experience with apple and what do you suspect will happen here??

I swear I am not making this up:

A really good buddy of mine was wasted at the bar/club about 4 weeks ago and couldn't find his Galaxy S or whatever it's called the next day. He works for Koodo which is a service provider here in Canada. Maybe a week later this foreign dude comes up to him at his kiosk and says he wants to set up an account with them but that he has a phone already. It was a Galaxy S too.... Turns out it was my buddy's phone! His name was on the back of the battery cover and everything. So he just takes his phone back and tells the guy to go fuck himself. And the foreign guy was just stunned but obviously couldn't do anything about it but say some stuff in his language an walk away although he did claim he bought it for $100.

I could not stop laughing when he told me.

&#xD;&#xA;NOT A SCAM. Called apple corporate number independently and they transferred me to this phone number. Now law enforcement involved from my end. US based phone number if it were a scam and FBI would get involved. NO WAY A SCAM.
