And 0 titles during that span. I dont know why everyone gets their panties in a bunch and wants to jump out of their 4th story window just because the Yankees spend more than other owners. George doesnt pocket the money like other owners, he puts it back into his investment [his team]....I dont get the hate. Obviously you cant buy championships which the Yanks have shown from 2001-2009 so i dont know why this even gets brought up.

No other team capable of spending that much money.... no other team capable of being anywhere near as successfull over such a time period.... no other team killing baseball like the Yankees...

A few years ago I read an article that the Yankees had the highest payroll something like 69 of the 90 something years they have been in existence, and have NEVER won a WS without the highest payroll.

Did you know the Yanks actaully lost money a few years ago?

One billion, five hundred and ninety four million, and 00/100 cents..... total expenditure in a World Series quest over 9 years of economic losing blunder... victorious fiscal adventure I do question. &#xD;&#xA;Not one ring since the year 2000. [/Quote]There is direct and substantial facts that I posted in this thread, posts #119,128, 129, and 131 specifically, that detail how spending directly correlates to buying a playoff spot.Thats all every team is trying to do. Be one of the 4 teams in the playoffs and you have a chance at a title. Spending doesn&#x27;t buy you a WS but it buys you a playoff spot.

Bottom Line: Spending that much money DOES guarantee you a postseason spot which is a luxury the majority of the teams DO NOT have, are the Yankees breaking rules? no, not at all but it hardly seems fair that the Yankees and Red Sox to a degree get to take a dump on the Kansas City Royals of the world, if you don&#x27;t care about the KC Royals of the world...fine!, but lets just break up the team and make MLB lets say a 10 team league...is that acceptable. In the end everyone just wants fairness, which means a cap, why do you think baseball isn&#x27;t americas pasttime anymore? and the NFL and NBA run this nations sports, why is that? could it be that all is equal every year because of the cap? hmmmm I think so!

I never understood how people could get made that someone ran their business to well.

It is not like the Boss is killing baby fetus to sell fetus blood for a profit to pay for a larger payroll each year.

He puts the best team on the field, in turn creating sellout crowds of people that come to watch these hall of fame players. Then uses all the money that he made, investing it back into his product to buy better players. And so on...

Its a business move. If you want to be mad at anyone be made at the owner of your favorite team that refuses to do the same. Instead all the other owners refuse to sign their superstar players cause they rather pocket the money that they made so they can go buy a new jet or something. Or the even stupider owners cant even figure out how to operate their business for a profit.

lets assume a $50 avg ticket price (for the 8 years) overcompensating for when they hiked the last few years

looks like revenues of approx 1.5b just for ticket sales. add in YES network ad revenue, monthly payments from nationwide cable companies, direct tv, merchandise and everything else...they probably make a handsome profit every year even with their ridiculous payroll

yanks also drew 3.7m this year with higher prices but thats not factored in
