College footballs way to decide a champion. Is there even a true champ in this sport? Pathetic. Enjoy your "amazing" regular season which ends with a pointless bowl season and a national champ  that some guy draws out of a hat.   Joke

comparing Football to Basketball is a Joke

You can play hoops on back to back nights ...

how many Injuries would you have if you played 2 football games in a week ???

College Hoops is Boring as hell ... the best players are gone off to the NBA...

the 35 second shot clock is a waste of Your Life ...I dont need to see a team waste minutes at a time passing the ball like soccer...

Why not compare it to Golf and have 40 teams + play on the field at the same time

your arguement never makes any sense to me

So you hate golf as well? So you just like football that's it. One of those.. Isnt there a lot of standing around in football after the 5 seconds a play takes? Unless your Oregon I guess.  Who cares if a monkey could fill one out? At least there is a bracket for the monkey to fill out. The  monkey has no interest in filling out the bracket for the beef bowl or the mediocrity.com bowl

The dreaded / annual O-13.....ripping of CFB.....

True....CFB has serious issues with fairness / bowl system robberies / BCS + NCAA treachery....+++

But maybe simply look to the FBS system ....or oh.....any high school in the country in how to decide who's the best....rather than the train wreck that is CBB......whose popularity / television ratings are in RAPID decline.......check out the Big East lately?

The regular season winner should get the auto-bid....NOT the conf. tournament winner.....wtf
*only extreme die-hards pay attention to reg season

One and done WTF?....I can name more players from UCLA / Notre Dame circa 1973 or so than I can from the entire CBB today.....don't laugh maybe true....

35 sec shot clock?....24 maybe too quick but should be 28-30 at least.....maybe 3 pt line should be moved back........

But you're right... a CFB tourney would be incredibly popular and lucrative.....
*BTW.....a major hurdle not often made public....is because NCAA bylaws state that a tourney with more than 4 teams would be run by the NCAA (as in CBB)....so the $$ would be split in half or so.....schools ain't gonna vote for that........

What do you propose?

From a fan perspective which I never will comprehend a Playoff is Ideal.

From a gambling perspective I don't like it, I like things the way they are, It is what I know, I do not wish to relearn how to handicap that much of a new angle.

the 4 team playoff starting after 2014 is going to cause problems as teams can get away with slipping to #4

make it an 8 team playoff and man will we have teams not putting out full efforts.

College Football is different than the NFL, Why not let it be?

[/Quote Regular seasons are not supposed to be more important than the postseasons. In ANY sport. Most sports have a somewhat lackluster regular season. That's fine. NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, etc. We have 6 seeds making the super bowl in the nfl. March dominates anything college football has. Its true. Your bringing up a shot clock??? Huh? I could care less about ratings.  People just watch these days what espn talks about and we all know they wont miss a second to brainwash people with football 24/7. College football is awful.

People are always going to girl about college football. Once the 4 team playoff starts people will girl about how #5 got screwed. A few years after that, they will change it to an 8 team playoff. In which people will girl that #9 got screwed.

The entire regular season is a playoff in college football. Want to make the championship game, than don't lose. You can't even compare the NCAA tourney to college football.

I'm in no way saying the BCS is the best we can do. But it sure beats #1 and #2 playing in separate bowl games like they used to.

Oh ok man. Want to make the champ game don't lose? So boise can go 12-0 and not make it? Why was Alabama even in the game last year? Its just who loses the latest. Complete joke. Regular season shouldn't be more  important than the postseason. Sports are meant  to end in postseasons, not utter garbage .    wanting a more important regular season

Was just giving my input. So what's your recommendation Einstein?

And you actually think that Boise could have stayed on the field with Bama last year?

You can't have a huge tourney in football like you can in basketball, use your brain man.

Please don't tell me you're one of those idiots that actually thinks that an undefeated school from a crap conference should get in the championship game or a major bowl over a 1-2 lose team from a power conference.

Whether or not boise CAN beat bama is far from the point. Its getting the shot. Just like butler couldn't hang with anyone in bball right? Well they got the shot and won games. Many times in sports the "better" team does not win. Not just talking college bball and football. I can go to baseball, nfl, nba, nhl etc. You use the tourneys or playoffs to decide the champion. That's the way it works. I mean sometimes in college football its just who loses the earlierst or some crap like that. I mean there wasn't any real reason why bama should have been in the title game. Im not saying they weren't the best team, but why were they there?

Off the top of my head, in 2007 lsu won the national title. They lost twice. They actually lost they last regular season game to Arkansas. Everyone kept losing that year. So why them? Its like they only reason they got in is they were next in line. Pretty lame

Hoops only has March Madness.  Only students and gamblers care about any other game.  I love March Madness but it is only 3 weeks a year.  I can't name any hoops players because all of the good players go pro once they make a name for themselves.

College football has the regular season, the conference season, Bowl Games and now a BCS playoff.   You basically get 3 solid months of college football a year.  I get to watch a great player like Manziel play 2 more years.

ALso, hoops is constantly killing clock.  The trend in football is the hurryup.  Who would you rather watch?  Oregon football or Wisconsin basketball?  They used to hurry-up in hoops, Loyola Marymount, UNLV,  and other schools did not need a shotclock.

Ok why are you comparing wisky bball to Oregon football? I could use Indiana or unc bball as examples of teams playing high scoring fast paced games. I think I watched a regular season football game with bama and lsu 2 years ago that was 6-3 or something

Great college football has bowl season. That's not a plus that's a negative. Its awful and completely useless. You don't hve a playoff system you have 4 teams getting together at the end. So your regular season is more meaningful? Congrats but its not supposed to be. In baseball is the regular season more important than the alcs or world series. No, you use the regular season TO MAKE the postseason.

This system is ripe for conspiracy theory.  A group of guys go into a room and come out with 4 teams?  Is there any definitive criteria? Can the conferences manipulate their championship game to improve their chances?

IF 3 of the 4 are SEC teams it really devalues the regular season. The last two seasons a team that didn't even make the sec championship benefitted the most 2011-bama 2012-florida.  This will continue.

SUGGESTIONS:

No more than 2 teams from any conference.

Definite Emphasis on conference champions.

Head to Head tiebreakers

Disregard the coaches poll, use a more sabremetric approach
