How about some input from some of you longtimers......is the quality of information available in this forum better or worse than it was in even as recently as say 2008?

BookieAssassin by himself has better info than the whole board combined had a lot of years.  This has never been an overly "technical" forum  It has mostly been guys who go on hot streaks and get cult followings. 

There has always been a lot of flame wars, name calling, stalking, and wannabee touts.

The quailty of the info is not quite as good, but not far off. There are many posters on this site that have talent. Some are good with particular sports, some with teams. You just have to spend your time and read through and you will have a list of people to look at. It doesnt take me very long to scan the first couple pages and check out the guys I wanna look at.

There is a lot of trash on here, but that hasnt really changed. Most of the newbs come and go when they lose money/interest and a new crop joins every year. Still not sure why covers doesnt have a 24 hr wait period and/or email varification for accounts.

Just saw Johnny Football on ESPN.  Who wouldn't trade their QB for that kid? It's kind of funny that the first year A&M is authentically good is their first year in the SEC.  They've always been a school with an elevated opinion of themselves.  Now this kid makes them legit for the next three years if he stays healthy.

the quality has went downhill because of a claim to be the best capper on here and certain guys choosing sides of those highly followed cappers.  the names you mentioned are just a few of many who through my time here have left for other sites or twitter because of this nonsense.  here at covers people are allowed to have 50 different screen names and all gang up on one guy to drive him insane and out of the forum.

its sad but its the way society is now.

you cannot find another gambling site around that i have seen that has more bs than this forum and its not even close.  but thats expected when you have the most people on this one.  

those guys you mention and many others post their picks on twitter now and can just block the bs.

I always like to read the guys who make me think.  If someone always agrees with you, what do you absorb from them? Nothing.

As for Boom, I always looked at him as a guy who touted a perceived image.  Some bought into it and viewed his thread 1000's of times a week......others thought he was a phony and also viewed his thread 1000's of times a week.  He was kind of like the forum's Rush Limbaugh.

 There are still some good cappers here........it's just harder to track them down because of all the other noise going on, much more noise than a few years ago. I rarely post picks anymore because it's a waste of my time. Since I don't have a cult following the thread would disappear into the abyss before many cappers I enjoy hearing from would even see it. So why bother? There's hundreds of others on here posting plays.

 I'd rather read the threads of the few on here that actually post something of substance & discuss plays with them. I don't have as much free time as I used to.......

Any insight into the Leach situation at Wazzu?  I had a couple of beers with him and a sports radio guy at a restaurant in Norman. Interesting individual.

Too many people despise a conference now and automatically assume fans of SEC teams are the other way around. No one is capping games for the most part anymore, they are trying to prove points.
