''Way too many mistakes,'' Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. ''It was poor coaching and poor playing. That's a bad combination.

Lunt threw three interceptions and Oklahoma State set a school record with 167 penalty yards, sending the 18th-ranked Cowboys to a frustrating 59-38 loss to Arizona in the desert on Saturday night.

Will OSU recover, or will they have a 6-6 type season??

This year, the dream died in Arizona, with the Cowboys losing to Rich Rodriguez’s Wildcats, 59-38.

Oklahoma State was penalized 15 times for a school-record 167 yards.

“If I had saw it coming,” Cowboys Coach Mike Gundy said, “I wouldn’t have gotten on the plane.”

Gundy should have said “seen,” not “saw.” So that’s 15 more yards, for roughing the grammar.

GUNDY SAYS:

"If somebody sat me down and said (I) had to make a decision," Gundy said, "with where we're at right now, Alabama lost to what would be the No. 1 team in the country LSU, and Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State.

"In our situation, if I was doing it fair, I don't know how I could put us in front of (Alabama) right now."

Gundy's a person.....A few years ago he hired a contractor to do work on his home....about $100,000 worth of work. He signed a contract and the owner of the company showed up on the first day of construction wearing a Sooner cap. Gundy's wife called him and told him....Gundy came roaring home in a rage.....verbally reamed the hand fired him on the spot.....Lawsuit.....

OU fans should love the guy!! he will stay for another 5 years recruiting 3 star talent, and stay around .500!!??? WV and TCU are the up and comers...Texas and OU are the Big 12s top teams and OSU is on the outside looking in!!

OSU has some of the finest facilities in the country and will continue to be a program on the rise. Gundy is a firey coach and a little on the arrogant side but I like that.

Unfortunately for him this year he has a rookie QB and that never bodes well. He'll have a tough season imo.

Other programs have QBs in waiting... and would never start a true freshman!! I think that their "rise" is done they are on the "fall" because they cant out-recruit OU or Texas and WV and TCU will outplay them!!

Just before the season; you can hear that he doesnt believe in his team!!

Gundy said this: "When you look at our football team right now, we're a better football team from 1-100 (players) than we have been in the last few years."

Gundy then took a moment to remind fans that you don't lose two first-round draft picks (Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon) without being impacted. But the big-picture message was that the program is on solid enough footing that it can lose star power without losing relevance.

That sounds like he is blatantly saying: We are going to lose some games this year guys!!

"The best way to put this is in our profession, when you are hired as a first-time coach, you don't really get respect until you get your second contract - until you have enough respect that you get that second contract. That's just how our profession is," Gundy said during an interview prior to his Cowboy Caravan appearance.
During Gundy's caravan chat, he shared credit for the program's rise, saying he has the best coaching and best recruiting staff he has ever had.

Gundy also admitted the climb was tougher than he envisioned. He said he was "too naive to know how hard a job we had" when he was first hired.

Added the coach, "As much as I like a challenge, I would not want to start from where we were."

Gundy will start the 2012 season on higher ground - and without questions about whether he is capable of beating the Sooners and Longhorns.

When your coach starts talking about how good special teams and defense is...means he doesnt think much of his offense!!!

Gundy likes his defense

Oklahoma State's offense got most the headlines last season but Gundy was impressed with his defense, which forced an NCAA-best 44 takeaways.

"We were able to put players in there that are young," he said. "And we didn't have as much drop-off as we would have had three, four years ago. And we have recruited toward some depth on defense and speed.

"I feel better now than I have about our defense since I've been the head coach."

So how did that lawsuit go? Pretty scummy thing for Gundy to do there.

Lunt actually played well vs. Arizona. Numerous passes dropped which would have resulted in huge gains, and 3 or 4 crucial penalties that negated big yardage through the air. He only threw what I would consider 1 legit pick when Arizona came with a blitz and he fired it and prayed. Unfortunatly it went for 6 the other way. Had another pick that came from a tip (If I remember right) and the 3rd when they were down 20 some points late, went away from their run game and he was forcing the ball. In all reality he only missed 2-3 throws.

The score and result was extremely misleading. Pokes kicked their behind before penalties brought Arizona back into the game. Resulting in momentum and a fired up home crowd. From there it was a prefect storm and Arizona ran away with it. If they played again this week on a neutral field, Pokes would crush Arizona!

I'm looking to go against Arizona with a big bet when the time is right. At Oregon or at Stanford is when the stars may align for Rich Rod and Arizona to get exposed.
