By looking at the schedules, you would have to say that Oklahoma St played against more quality teams than Alabama. Of course, this is where SEC nation comes in. While I agree that SEC has better teams based on history, this year where Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee, and even Mississippi St being mediocre hurts Alabama. It doesn't matter where Florida, Auburn, Tennessee or Mississippi St played in this year, they are mediocre. You can argue that Tennessee has a bad record because they played all the top teams in the SEC, but they lost 7-10 to Kentucky.
If Alabama got to play Georgia 10-3 and/or South Carolina 10-2, it would give them better quality wins.
Penn St is overrated just like the Big 10. Largest margin of victory against opponents is 10, majority under 7. Loss to all the ranked teams. Record will give them a top 25 finish, they'll probably lose the bowl game.
You can argue that that was their schedule and they took care of business... didn't TCU/Boise the previous years do the same?
Alabama's loss is definitely understandable.
Oklahoma St's loss, if put into perspective is understandable. Airplane crash killing two coaches + look ahead to Oklahoma even though was 2 weeks away.
If Oklahoma St played those SEC teams that Alabama played, their toughest matchups would of been Arkansas and LSU. With a lack of a QB on the other teams, don't think those teams could hold off Oklahoma St's offense for them to pull out the win. Other teams wouldn't have a shot unless it was another one of those big upsets like Iowa St. Arkansas has a good shot, but I think Oklahoma St wins. I think LSU beats Oklahoma St, but shouldn't we get to see it?
If Alabama played the teams Oklahoma St played, teams that might have a chance to win and it wouldn't even be consider a huge upset are Oklahoma (obviously not if they played like tonight), Kansas St, Baylor. Texas Tech and Texas A&M can be dangerous as well. Oklahoma has the best shot but I still think Alabama wins.
Oklahoma St plays the SEC. Alabama plays the Big 12.
We'll played the BCS title game in 3 1/2 months from now. If there is still a tie in record, they will play head to head.
Oklahoma St is going to the BCS title game. It really doesn't matter that they lost to an unranked team under the circumstances. We have already seen the script of LSU/Alabama and Alabama lost. No need for a re-run. Computers will be all over Oklahoma St at #2, that is a LOCK
