I have ACTUALLY heard people make this argument. Anyone with any sense knows that even the Indianapolis Colts would beat either team by 60+ points..Curtis Painter would have more touchdown passes than he could every hope for. It comes down to simple math really.. Men against boys..They would have to call the game at halftime due to injuries to the college players..A college team will/would never ever beat a pro team!

'72 - Cowboys 20-7
'73 - Dolphins 14-3
'75 - Steelers 21-14

Wouldn't dream of laying double digits in these games before this year but this year is different. Opposing teams just get tired in the 4th quarter (or earlier) and you end up with easy points. LSU too deep and in shape. Throw a turnover or two in there and it's an immediate blowout and LSU practices turnovers.

I agree with you on the Iron Bowl, i stated back in Oct i thought Arkansas could beat LSU, but then watch them stuggle a few games with Vandy and Ole Miss. I was going to still back them up...........
...............but now i would like them to loss because it helps Alabama from playing Georgia in the SEC Championship game.
Right now Alabama has been in a slump and Georgia could beat them with all the injurys they have, as far as Auburn i think thats a cake walk backups or not.

I completely disagree, you have college teams running more sophisticated offenses than some NFL teams. Why do you think players like Ben Roethliberger,Andy Dalton, and Cam Newton can step right in and lead their teams as rookies? Can you name any rookie QBs from the 70's that did anything? Also look what Tebow is doing in Denver, they scrapped their pro style offense so that Tebow can essentially run his offense from college. Also you routinely have players go to the NFL after their junior year,did that ever happen in the 70's? And finally college kids from the 70's played a basic 11 game schedule that wasn't nearly as competitive as todays high pressure 12/13 game schedules plus conference championship games plus the BCS plus ultra competitive camps that players now attend every year from the age of 14/15.Plus kids develop much quicker now than in the 70's,you rarely saw a 300 lb college lineman back then now there are tons of high school kids that are 300+.

no need to read beyond this! the worst NFL team would crush the best CFB team every year, and it is not even remotely debatable by anyone with any football sense...
the schemes and speed of the NFL are completely incomprehensible at the college level...

You do realize why college teams run more complex offenses and nfl offenses cannot be so cute with this kind of thing right? Does anyone think Oregon type offenses could work in the league? It works in college spreading people out because it is fast paced and keeps teams from subbing and keeps them in their base defense and kids in college continue to make mistakes with blown coverages, missed tackles etc.. and in the NFL they do not do that, you cannot take advantage of guys that are paid to make plays and know their assignments and especially because they are all professionals and equal talent. Spread offenses take advantage of lesser talent and kids that aren't smart enough about the game and do things that NFL players simply do not do on a regular basis. As for spread offenses of the Petrino kind from pro styles, they work much better in the NFL that balance out the LOS with double TE sets and get the defense flowing one way for misconceptions setting up big plays in the middle of the field. If you get cute in the NFL you will get blown up more often than you will succeed and have a lot of turnovers, it is strength against strength in the NFL. The spread offenses in college work for the simple fact that they create mismatches that you cannot create all over the field in the NFL and because of depth issues, which do not exist as often for NFL teams, especially up front.

The reason the college team loses every time is simple logic--every player on the entire roster is a Pro football player. In college your roster may have 5 legit pro's maybe.

I think LSU could beat the Colts this year because of their defensive line and the Colts offensive line. Honestly the Colts have consistently fielded the worst offensive line in the nfl every week. thats really the only matchup i think would stand a chance,

There's only one problem with you're statement about the Colts. The Colts aren't a pro team. I would put money on LSU to beat the Colts straight up, probably around 15-6. The UNDER in this game would be gold!
