quantam sounds like a good choice they better get somene special cuz lane kiffen is putting together a beast down there. ill tell you one thing this team reminds me of uga like 4 yrs ago when they beat hawaii`s brains out if they had  a playoff format in college football no one would want to play USC right now. not sure if matt barkley wont be as good or better than andrew luck on sundays

I've always thought Barkley is as good, if not better than Luck.  Not sure why he doesn't get more love in the media.

You point is well taken, but this is a huge gray area for schools that are trying to hire a new coach.  National Signing Day is the first Tuesday in February, and if teams wait until the first or second week of January to hire a coach - a coach they may or may not get - their recruiting class is completely screwed.  The ones that have committed to the previous coach will be under heavy pressure from rival schools to bail, and the new coach would have no chance to recruit because he will arrive after the dead period.  That's why schools usually pull the trigger to fire coaches quickly after the season is over, and move equally fast to fill the void.  The quicker the position is filled the less the damage.

Actually I think USC is private and UCLA is public.
