Well said.. I have been playing for 4-5 years now. Had a breakeven year, 2 a couple k winning years, and had to walk away last year mid season b/c I lost what I was willing to lose without being really pissed.. Played too big and lost it early.
I have avoided larger bets, and play about 5% of my bankroll per play. Play an average of 10-15 plays per week, and it keeps games I could usually care less about fun!!
Up about 40% of org. bankroll so far this year---have had good and bad weeks. Went 7-4 last week which was helped out by a 5-0 Sunday and MNF plays.
I usually put a chunk in to start the year and we re-up 1x if needed (the payouts have been nice on the good years).
I do not play with my mortage $ or dumb shit like that, but I have friends that would never consider putting the kind of money in play that I do...which is probably much less than the average on this site.

This is the best post Ive read here ever since I joined ! Ive been betting here and there for over 15 years but just for "recreational" purpose
. Just parlay cards and a few straight bettings here and there. The bookies always had the upperhand with their house-rules. In my case, if you single bet, and it is a push, you automatical loses. SERIOUSLY? Having to win by 7 or 3 pts is hard enough, now you have to win by 8 or 4 pts. Since we have no choice, we have to play by it.
Ive got tired of it and decided to give online a try. Wish I would have done it sooner. Ive been trying to tell all my friends but they still want to donate their money to the bookie(s) -which is sad. And some of them play with money dont even have. When it's collection time, they go around borrowing people. I dont have the brightest friends -either that or they just hate using computers.
Normally at this time, at mid-way point, I'd be down $1000-$2000, but now Im actually up and practice money-managing. Hopefully I get better with my w/l % then I'll load more money for my bankroll.
