Do you pay any attention to the consensus when you make plays. I am new to this betting thing. Tomorrow night according to the consensus almost 80percent is on Tulsa, I like Tulsa but how is it possible for Vegas to lose that much money on 1 game. Any insight would be aprreciated.

I pay some attention to it. But only if the game is on nationally tv at night. Just look at this year. I can give you every game on abc at 8 and what the public was on i bet their winning percentage is 20%

Consensus doesn't mean much, so don't both with it. Consensus was on Eagles to beat Raiders and look what happened. Just cause everyone's going for it doesn't make it a good pick.
As for Tulsa v. UTEP, all I have to say is Brandon Lang's pick is for UTEP, so my money will be on Tulsa+OVER

Consensus numbers only show the number of bets, not amount of $$ on a side. That is why in many cases you may have the public heavily on one side but the line still moves the other way - big money coming in on the other side. That is more important to watch because it will tell you where the sharp money is going...

Manifesto is 100% correct. Also remember that consensus numbers are simply a tool in handicapping. It should be used along with other pertinent information.
Using it for individual games can be a risk. Vegas is not concerned about losing one or two games or even one or two weeks. They are only concerned with winning for the year. They want and need us to win sometimes....it's the only the thing that keeps us coming back!

I agree that they don't care about our well being but they do like us to win every now and then. Why do you think they put Billy Bob up on a billboard showing the $1,000,000 he won? Why do slots hit more often near the entrance of a casino?
Business 101. Occasional winning is the best advertisement you can have. If we never won or never knew anyone who one, eventually even the most degenerate would not continue
My local guy even told me one time he loves it when a new player wins the first couple of weeks. He owns them after that
