Pitt comes into tonight off a big comeback win against Uconn. The Panthers hit a game winning FG at the end of regulation to beat a rebuilding but well coached Huskie team. The Panthers have been successful this year behind an aggressive defense and the solid play of QB Bill Stull. Stull has thrown for 1256 yards this year, 13 TD's and 3 ints. They also have the 5th most productive RB in the nation in Freshman RB Dion Lewis. This guy has picked up where Leshon Mcoy has left off averaging 123 yds per game. On defense Pitt has been very aggressive ranking 3rd in the nation in sacks and 11th in the nation in tackles for a loss. If Pitt can eliminate the big plays this defense is dominant. However this not the case being gashed by both Buffalo and NC State for over 500 yards and also giving up several big plays to UCONN last week.
Rutgers comes into tonight 4-1. They have regained their form after being embarassed by explosive Cincy in their opener. Rutgers has done so behind a defense that has been dominant since the opening game against the Bearcats. The Scarlet Knights defense ranks 4th in the nation in sacks and 9th in the nation in tackles for a loss. But the big stat is how Rutgers has been able to protect the football and create turnovers giving them the 2nd best turnover margin in the land at 2.40. Offensively the running game has been excellent behind leading rusher Joe Martinek he has had alot of room running behind an experienced and talented group of linemen that have helped the Scarlet Knights gain 188 ypg, good for 36th in the land. However Rutgers has had a hard time this year replacing former QB Mike Teel. They do have the highly recruited Freshman Tom Savage who in his first 85 attempts has been mistake free with no ints. He will get his first real test tonight against this Pitt pressure D.
In four years Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt has never beat Rutgers and coach Greg Schiano and tonight despite all the revenge talk I'm afraid Pitt will again come up short. The Panthers will try to control the game behind RB Dion Lewis to open up the Big Pass plays for Stull. However against the Rutgers stout run defense that ranks 6th in the nation the the Pitt offense will have no room to run and relying on Bill Stull to win you a game as we all know from the past is alot to ask. I see him throwing a couple picks tonight against this opportunistic Scarlet Knights defense. Rutgers behind their power running game and mistake free offense will eat up the clock en route to a 7 point victory. I'm going with Rutgers at home tonight a team who is trying to prove to a national audience that their 1st game against Cincy is not a good measure of how they really are. Greg Schiano will get another win against his former counterpart and I will cash yet another winner tonight!!!

Good week so far DaExpert - leaning on Rutgers tonight as well. Seems like we are in the minority but laying points with the stache is something I'm not interested in doing. GL

I check your threads reguarily. You've been hot as of late. I am having difficulty making your write up fit these numbers:

Your logic makes sense and I understand why you want to pick against Wannstedt, but being able to get in at -3.5 earlier in the week led me to pick Pitt. When I was handicapping this game earlier in the week, I had Pitt winning by 8 points, which is why I took the bet at 3.5. If I were to look at it now being at 6, it would probably be a no play. At any rate, good luck to all of you that did that Rutgers at +6, and hopefully it ends up being a 4 or 5 point win for Pitt and we all end up making some money.

Nice write-up DE. I went against you last night and got my ass handed to me. I think I will take Butgers as well, however, why has the line gone from 3 to 6 in a matter of 3 days? Is someone clutch out for Butgers? Good Luck Bro'.
