- To all those who say Auburn has played nobody.....Is West Virginia nobody? I mean they are favored by 16 tonight...and Auburn is their only loss....And what about Mississippi State? They rolled vanderbilt like crazy, and while thats not much of an achievement, MSU was 4 inches away from beating number 4 LSU, and really only lost due to a bad 3rd and 4th down call.
- Also, I would be willing to bet that most who say auburns D is "bad" watched none of their games. Auburn's second string defense was in the second half of EVERY GAME except the WVU game. Auburn's D does need some improvement, but they are by no means bad. Yes we gave up 30 points to ball state, but the 1st string gave up only 17 to them, and 7 of those were off of a special teams blunder that set up ball state on the 18.
- Just throwin it out there, but Tennessee kinda squeaked by OHIO and allowed them 24 points....but i dont know if they were subbing (comments on that please if you have them).
- In 2004 Auburn went into this same game as a 1.5 dog in Knoxville against a Tennessee team that was allowing 20 points per game....won it 34-10. Now in 2009 we are going in as about a 2 point dog into Knoxville against a Tennessee team that is allowing 18 points per game, only this time our offense is tied with florida's for being the best in the country.
- Tennessee's D is impressive (8th in the nation), but is busted up and missing their MLB.
- Auburns D is rested up cuz they only played half a game last saturday. They have given up a few more points than most would like, but they are 4th in the nation in interceptions, and 13th in sacks. Although they have been giving up too many points, there is a pretty good reason why. Give this next line a read... Head Coach Gene Chizik was quoted as saying "You cant worry about (defensive) stats when you are up by 3 touchdowns. Instead you have to start thinking about having your starters next week."
- Tennessee's O was basically born busted (except for their one RB who is freakin amazing) they are currently 52nd in the nation in total offense and 41st in points per game....P.S. their being as high as 41st is mostly due to a one time performance of 63 points, followed by 19,23,34.
- Auburns O is on a school record setting pace. 5th in the nation in rushing, 3rd in the nation in total offense, T-1st in the nation in points per game.
