Whats Up With All This Talk About "The U"?

Yippie, they beat 2 ranked opponents...FROM THE ACC. They barely got by FSU whose secondary blows and Miami's defense was totally exposed. Then they beat GTech, who didn't have their star RB for the 2nd half if I'm correct. So much love from everyone on ESPN I've seen saying "They Are National Championship Contenders" or "The U is BACK". All Bullshit. They'll probably lose to VTech this weekend. They'll probably lose to Oklahoma(even without Bradford). And I can see them losing 2 more games after that. They are getting to much respect for beat 2 "ranked" teams to start off the season. Yes...Harris is an impressive QB, and they have tons of speed. But only time will tell how "good" this team really is.

Is this the same Sparky that said the Angels were maybe the play of the year against the Yanks earlier this week?  The U won @ FSU which is never easy, they beat GT who destroyed them last year... and a team who has been abused since 2001 and flooded with thugs, drugs, and other horror stories.  Shannon has this team turned around and they have that swagger back for the first time in nearly a decade.  They def are not a top 5 team and only time will tell as you said, but give some credit where credit is deserved.

So 2 wins and now their National Championship Contenders? I'm not buying it. FSU's secondary is an absolute joke(not the same team as season's past). They JUST passed Jacksonville St by 10 points(At Home). And even though they beat up on BYU, they still gave up 28 points. FSU being ranked is very kind by the polls. They are very overrated. As for GTech...sure they smacked them around LAST SEASON, but thats all it was. They too haven't been impressive. They beat Jacksonville State and just survived against Clemson. And like I said...they didn't have Dwyer for most of the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. Miami is so overrated it's not even funny,

Agree to disagree! .... Even if the U loses a close one, which this one will be, they are far from overrated sorry.  They were underrated coming into the year and they win 2 big games and have a little hype and now they are overrated?? I dont think so!  Atleast we agree on the Yanks which is all I am thinking about and Jaba getting his Shit together!!!

I think with all the publicity they are receiving...they just turned into overrated.
 
Anyway...Joba will be in the bullpen for the first series. So al you need is Sabathia, AJ, and Andy to get 6 innings, and you have yourself a win. How sick is that?

sparky, sparky.........don't hate appreciate buddy.......after years of underachieving during the cocker and the begining of the shannon era........after being so dominant for a long time in the past..........its about time we here our hometown college team back in the hunt for a bcs bowl game.........so stop throwing your little temper tantrum and get up from the floor.........the bottom line is that they do have good and well coached football team that can go into any stadium in the country and cause some concern......yes they do have weaknesses that need to be address but so does their opponents that they can expose........virginia tech will be a tough task but don't you think the hokies are saying the same thing about miami.....

Yea especially how AJ has looked his last few starts, minus one pitch to Roberts, he has been what we needed.  I love his k's just wish his pitch count wouldnt be up near 90 after 5 innings, I know that is what k pitchers do but his walks have been the nemisous of him.  I hope Twinkies make a push and overtake Tigers because I would much rather face Blackburn, Baker, and Liriano (if he is even pitching) than Verlander, Jackson and Porcello.  First lets win the East and take 2 out of 3 vs Sox this weekend.  We have the matchups Sat and Sun, they may have it tonight but love being a home dog, its got to be the 1st time all year long.

I'm not saying they are a "bad" team. They have tons of speed, Harris is a good QB, but all I'm saying is that they are now overly hyped by the media and I'm sick of hearing it. I'm also saying that they didn't beat great teams to get all this respect. Remember...all this hype was brought up after they beat FSU as if they just downed Florida. I'm not buying into it. They'll have to win the next 2 before more talks can accumulate.

Greinke is facing the Twins 2 more times this season. That sucks. And now the Tigers are playing their best ball all season. It'll be tough but they have 3 or 4 more against he Tigers? I'm hoping for the best.

Once again...I'm not saying Miami is "bad", I'm saying their getting treated like the best team in football. FSU isn't that great of a team this season(as you can see by the Jacksonville St. score). Their defense is really bad and Miami JUST beat them having gave up 30+ points themselves. And what does my lack of baseball gambling abilities have to do with how I analyze college football?

FSu wasn't suppose to be ranked. They won a rivalry game on the road, OK.
 
The beat a GT team in Mia that played 3 games in 12 days. so, yes, they are fast, but it looked a lot worst since GT couldn't get off the field and was worn out.
 
And the Harris stuff for heisman, God. Nothing like the hype machine.
 
They will still finish sept, 2-2, like it was though was their best outcome. They will only be 1 game behind VT in the division, so yes, they are still in the hunt.
 
Plain and simple, they shouldn't be a fav in Blacksburg, period.
 
yes, MIa offense is better than VT, but this isn't FSU and GT playing defense.

sparky - i hate the U but VT is the most overhyped team every single year. their QB play has been terrible for 5-7 years now and they win games on blocked punts and pick 6's

I don't think they're over-rated, and you are really spinning things out of control.  FSU did wax BYU at BYU, and Miami shut down Dwyer big time when he was in the game.
 
I like Va Tech's secondary enough and think it's a good spot to play on them, but the Canes are definitely top 10 talent wise.

The Huskers should have killed the Hokies....they couldnt convert in the red zone...had nebraska beat Va Tech this line would have been 7 or higher...
 
I'm from Nebraska and can you tell that Miami is hands down better than us on defense...I also think that had Zach Lee not broken his thumb in the first half it wouldnt have mattered
 
Now throw in the rain forecast for saturday and miami's speed on defense...You Va Tech backers will be asking Tyrod to beat Miami threw the air....not gonna happen
 
This should be a blow out and is one of those gifts that vegas is giving us Miami backers due to the Huskers not being able to close out

Maybe so...but all I've heard since they skimmed by FSU was that "The U is Back"(anyway you can change my title btw so that there are no quotes? kinda hard to read. ) Then after they beat GTech..."The U is a National Championship Contender". Now...every time I turn on a sports channel, all I hear is how great Miami is and even on ESPN's First Take they're talking about how Miami is ONLY a 2.5 point favorite in Blacksburgh and how they should easily beat the Hokies. It's just too much to handle...I just want them to lose already so they can be done with this nonesense. It's like hearing 5 "Dr. Lou's" talking about how Notre Dame is going to the National Championship game but will get "upset" by Florida. They are way too biased on ESPN it's not even funny.

I was just thinking that all I see are people talking about Miami's first 2 opponents and not mentioning that VT needed a freaking miracle to beat Nebraska at home !!!! They were outrushed 207-86 and TT was a smooth 12-27 passing.....not gonna get it done on Saturday. I'm not saying Miami will run up and down the field on them but they need a superior effort this week or they will lose

I honestly do not think they are a National Championship contending team... yet.... they are young and have a lot of areas to improve.  Areas of improvement on a young team can only make them better in the long run.  However I would wait until they get beat and beat real good before you bash this team, that really was my point in the beginning. Who knows you could be bashing a team that goes undefeated and wins the National Championship , do I think so, absolutely not but we have all seen stranger things go on in sports.

So...seeing that Florida State lost to a Grothe-less South Florida AT HOME, it proves how meaningful that win against FSU was.
 
So I say again...Miami is Overrated. Luckily the National Championship talks will die down now.
