Florida State tattles
From the files of pot, meet kettle, we bring you the Florida State NCAA compliance department. While the group of hard-working men and women apparently knew little about cheating in a music course at FSU, they know a whole lot about eligibility for players who once played semi-pro ball. Even an Oklahoma player.
The Oklahoman reports that it was the FSU compliance office that turned in OU linebacker Mike Balogun to the Big 12, and eventually to OU. Wait, the story gets better.
FSU called the Big 12 after hearing about Balogun's semi-pro experience during the telecast of last year's BCS national championship game. FSU called the Big 12, which said it was satisfied with the paperwork filed in the matter. Those steely Tallahassee compliance folks then called OU and told Sooner brass that they had researched on the Internet and found a box score that showed Balogun played in a game in Orlando after his 21st birthday (an NCAA no-no).
Imagine, everyone, if the FSU compliance people cared as much about blatant academic fraud in their own backyard.
From Sporting News...... This was just too ironic for me not to post...![]()
