If your book does not give you the 5-inning bet...then find another book.....
 
The dilution of talent with the expansion of baseball has made innings 6-9 a minefield for the bettor.
 
I have been championing this bet for 2 years now...more books are adding it....side & totals & runlines.....
 
Eliminate bullpens, managerial moves, and all the crap that happens after the starting pitcher leaves the game....
 
Analyze and cap the game (5 innings) strictly based upon the starting pitchers vs the opponent's offense....
 
...and win more bets...period.

i might not be 0-6 on the season if i had done that...more like 3-3

Or just think about bullpens when capping a game? If you know a team has a weak bullpen, bet against them (a good example is the Tigers). A team with a good starter, but bad bullpen is usually good for an under 5 inning bet though.

Putz being hurt killed Seattle this week. He saved the first game. Blew the 2nd ........was put on the DL. And they gave up 3 in the ninth today. I like the 5 inning line. BAD teams have alot of value. I agree with your thoughts..............BUT if Putz was healthy it is a totally different week fot the M's.

As the saying goes...."..and if chickens had lips..."
 
Why should you even care about bullpens...why try to factor into your capping who is hot in the bullpen...and, worse yet...who is the manager going to use based upon that huge notebook that they all look at in the dugout.....
 
...OH, and did I mention the defense for offense switches that managers love to use that comes back to bite them in the bottom of the 10th inning??

I agree with 5 inning bets...............I just wanted to point out..........that in my opinion, using the M's weren't the way to sell people. Being that Putz was lights out last year. But having said that......................There is ALOT of value betting bad teams  on the 5 inning line. By the way.......I much prefer if the Queen had balls she'd be the King...........but to each his own. Good Luck to you.

KIng... Simple, really.....wait another week or so....DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE 2430 BASEBALL GAMES IN ONE SEASON??????????????????.....Wait for the starting pitchers to develop patterns that you can see....WHIP/ERA and offenses also develop patters....how they hit against LHP/RHP, home/away, nite/day, etc.....
 
Then....ask yourself...and the many excellent amateurs in this forum...."Which SP is gonna have an advantage today and which SP looks overmatched or should be faded?".....
 
Eliminate everything else....

THought that I would BUMP this myself rather than start a new thread.....

...and see if anyone out there would like to lend their analysis of today's games to the concept of 5-inning bets....

Either supporting or fading a particular SP vs offense; or perhaps looking at a total .....

ive been fortunate enough to be on the right side of those comebacks.

but i can see why 5 innings would be preferred.

THinking that Cole Hamels might be a good 5-inning bet today...and possibly Matt Cain.....it's still a little too early for me; but these 2 SP's were good early on last year and the same this year.....young arms....
