Washington @ Colorado. Pitching for Washington tonite will be Russ Ohlendorf. Russ is being called up from AAA, where he is 4-5, with a 4.27 ERA this year, for a one-game spot start, as Wahington is short on healthy starting pitchers. His careet ML stats are 18-32 with a 5.1 ERA. In 2011 with Pittsburgh, he showed flashes, if not of brilliance, then at least of competency, with his 11-10 record and 3.96 ERA.
Every baseball player wants to play in the bigs. Ohlendorf gets a chance to showcase himself in the spotlight, albeit for one outing. A good showing, followed up by solid work in AAA will only increase his chances for a future shot, if not in Washington, where they have a deep staff, then possibly somewhere else. Russ will be motivated to be at his best tonight.
Consider Jorge DeLarosa, the opposing SP. He has a 3.15 ERA at home this year, and is 3.38 overall for the year. Factor in also the anemic Washington offense sans Harper. What does this all add up to? More imprtantly, what does this not add up to? I don't think it adds up to 6 runs in the first 5 innings.
Thr play: Col. 1st 5 UNDER 6 even. GL

was 2009 when he went 11-10 and that was his ONLY good year. Last year for SD he was atrocious and got rocked every time out and same thing the year before that. his era the last 2 years was 7 and 8 something in the respective years. He is the worst pitcher in MLB as of today and is worse than Sanchez even. Trust me DO NOT bet on this dude. Couldn't think of a worse place for him to start either than at Coors. Look at what he did there last year. lol

I do stand corrected on the year he compiled the 11-10 record. It was 2009; the Covers preview had it listed as 2011. Ohlendorf had no outings last year at Colorado. Careerwise, he had a total of three appearances at Coors. Two starts in 2009; one bad, the other decent. He had an additional start there in 2010, where he was lifted after 9 pitches when he was hit by a line drive.
Your 2011 & 2012 ERA figures of 7.77 and 8,15 are correct, as are your comments about earlier callups. He did not, however, get rocked EVERY time out. But that all is besides the point. This is a one-game callup because tthey're short of pitchers. There's no real expectations or pressure. He doesn't have to be great tonite, or even outpitch DeLarosa. All I need for the bet to cash is for Ohlendorf to be cfompetent (and DeLarosa also). I think he is more than up to the task. GL.
