Help ! Someone is suing me for 22.8 mil....

For breaching a contract.

I received package by certified mail last week. It turned out that it content a court order documents. I went on to read it. After getting thru a few pages, I know that it wasn't me as the defendant has the same name like me but difference at the middle name. Also the company name mentioned in the court paper that I never heard of or being associated with. My question is what I should do :
1/ Ignore it since it is not me he or she is suing for
2/ Send the package back to the sender ( may cost me to send it back and I don't want to pay for it )

I know this is wring forum but I may get more reply than posting in any other forum here.

I think you should call the court and get advice from them.

call them tell them they have the wrong person and ask what they would like you to do with the package

Spend the few dollars to send it back. I am assuming it came from an attorney? If it did research quickly on the Internet to make sure the attorney is legit. Contact him by phone and see if you can't get the situation resolved. See what he says and proceed from there. Most attorneys will want to correct such an egregious error quickly. See Chances are that will take of it.

Also, whatever you decide, do not ignore it. Burying your head in the sand can lead to much bigger difficulties down the road.

also same as tiger said, happened to me once the lawyer or office should send a courier to come get it at no expense to you

Look like this person is acting alone. Sound to me he has no lawyer yet. What trouble would I get if I don't send it back ? It is not my fault, why pay $10 to $20 to send it back.

there should be details  i.e letter head. I wouldn't ignore it

if its court papers then it has been filed, call the court where it was filed

What I am concern here is the public record about me as I am in a process of losing my job soon.

The new employer may look at that and toss my application out without looking at what skill I may have.

Go to court as scheduled.   Countersue.   Prove you are not the guy.   And win you're countersuit.

LOL train. I am still on my job. Request early release and will bet paid for half a year after leaving..

Too late to ignore it....you've already signed off on the certified mail... as an FYI, NEVER sign off on certified mail (unless your absolutely certain of the sender), never open your front door to anyone (including a mail person).  Have your mail delivered to a P.O. Box.  Can't send certified mail to a P.O. Box.  

Anyone who actually wants to knock on your front door, should call on their cell first, right? 

Always best to not know NOTHING..."DON'T KNOW" & "CAN"T REMEMBER" are great sayings to remember.  "TOO BUSY" is always believable in today's world. 
 
Have you got a P.A. you can pan this off on?  You pay him/her to handle these things, right?   

I'd just forget about it....and see what happens.... your're too busy, right?

First hand experience...got a lawsuit for $200K from Boston Scientific. I ignored and their attorney called me months later. He admitted it was their attorneys mistakes. He was pissed I didn't respond but I told him its his responsibility to do all due dilligent. If it's not a court order to appear in court, don't sweat it

I would like to think that peace of mind is worth 10 bucks if your an innocent party rather than lose 2 years off your life fretting about it for mths
