Kris Medlen takes the ball for Atlanta, bringing with him a 1-3 record and 3.26ERA/1.35whip/.267BAA. He has been great in 11 games vs Wash (2 starts) posting 1.67/1.04/.245. While winless at home this year, Medlen has good numbers 2.25/1.33/.250. Atlanta is top 10 in OPS at .734 for the season, .749 at home, where they play today. Lastly, their relievers have an MLB best 1.99ERA and are 2nd in the majors with a .210 oppBAA
Haren goes for Washington. He is 2-3 with a 6.29/1.73/.355 line, which is downright awful. He has a 5:1 K to BB ratio, which is great, especially when facing a team like Atlanta who strikes out a tonne, but is allowing 14.1 H/9IP. Ouch. He is 0-2 on the road this year with a 9.72/2.04/.381. Double Ouch. For his career at Turner Field he posts 7.31/1.63/.323. Washington's relievers have an ERA of 4.20. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, both Harper and Werth wont play today. That's 13HR out of the lineup for a team that doesnt hit HR (28 in total). More than a third of their rbi's.
Atlanta has the better pitcher, is at home, the better bullpen, and Washington is missing 2 key guys. Take Atlanta.
