#1 Posted: 10/3/2012 9:35:41 PM Did Jim Leyland screw this up some what tonight by starting Scherzer? Max is a better pitcher at home than on the road. Therefore, I would rather have Max start Game 2 versus Game 3. Fister can pitch home or away...doesn't matter to him. The rotation now is: Verlander, Fister, Scherzer, Sanchez, and Verlander. I would have liked to see him flip flop Fister and Scherzer. Especially mixing up two hard throwers back to back...keep the A's off balance. |

#3 Posted: 10/3/2012 9:43:12 PM That is the only positive thing I could see in this rotation. Mixing up back to back hard throwers. I hear what you're saying gfinger at least there is two off days for them, to try and cool off. Should be a fun low scoring series. |

#4 Posted: 10/3/2012 9:54:29 PM Yeah, I like what I've been seeing out of Fister and Scherzer down the stretch and of course Verlander is Verlander. However, the only thing about Detroit is their offense can be really hit or miss. You can't fall asleep in the playoffs and they have the tendency to do that.

#5 Posted: 10/3/2012 9:57:28 PM Well what about Oakland? The A's strikeout a lot. They can be hit or miss as well. It should be a low scoring series in my opinion. |

^^^^^ This
STL last year, SF the year before, these hot teams are not to be faded in the post season. |

#10 Posted: 10/3/2012 10:02:38 PM It sure is nice that people think the Tigers don't have a nice solid starting rotation. I like Verlander and Fister almost more than anyone else as a one, two punch. |

#11 Posted: 10/3/2012 10:03:30 PM Might be a three game sweep, just like it was a four game sweep in 2006. |

Haven't seen a series line, but the WS/pennant odds heavily favor the Tigers over to A's, so you can clearly expect the Tigers to be the favorite.
Doesn't make sense to me though...

#20 Posted: 10/4/2012 1:10:56 AM I think Oakland will get a lot of action and that scares me. Usually the teams like SF and STL ran a little under the radar but not with this Oak team. At least with those other teams those players all had experience and it showed. I think the A's slow down after a couple days rest and Det wins in 4. I really like Texas to beat Balt and once again run the table in the AL. They always get overlooked and those bats are still solid. |

#21 Posted: 10/4/2012 1:26:42 AM I doubt the action will be on the A's side. Keep in mind the public will see an ace in verlander for game 1. Factor in the 2 home games and the bias of a rookie staff with the A's, there will be plenty of action for Detroit.
It'll be a good series. Go A's |

...
max had shoulder issues the last couple of weeks, then he twists his ankle the night they clinch...
better to find out what they've got b4 the playoffs start IMO...
oakland: pitchers' ballpark...max's overall numbers there aren't gr8t altho in 11+ IPs he does have 17 Ks...
verlander/fister IMO gives them a real solid chance to go out there up 2-0

#23 Posted: 10/4/2012 1:41:46 AM You got the triple crown winner, quite possibly the MVP. I would not be taking Oakland. Their tremendous run was quite possible due to Tx being crap down the line. I say Det. |

#24 Posted: 10/4/2012 1:43:02 AM Let me revise my prediction. Thinking about it now this is how it will go down A's take game one yes i think the money will be on verlander and the tigers so i think the A's take game one after people see that the A's beat verlander EVERYONE will start jumping on the A's and the tigers will get their garbage together. A's win it in 4 or tigers in 5. But for some reason i think the A's win it and face Texas again in the Finals that would be fun |

Bye Bye Tigers Is this confirmed?
I saw a post game interview w Bret Anderson the night A's clinched. He seemed to be pining for the ball opening playoff night? Made it clear pen session went well
