Well, big day yesterday, and I'm happy to say that I did not sweep the card. We all know, when I do sweep a card, the next day is a debacle. Went 7-1-1 yesterday collecting +14.25 unit$ overall. We only have 3 days of the regular season left, and that brings me to this...
Today will be *LPOY* - Largest Play of Year as of today, Mon. 10/1
My previous *LPOY* was back on Thurs. 8/9 backing RA Dickey and the Mets for [9U] and it hit. Before that, it was Angels & Dan Haren (yes, Dan Haren) for [8U] back in July. And today, it's backing Josh Johnson in my favorite Situational Play... backing Josh Johnson after a home loss.
GiLz Largest Play of Year:(Mon. 10/1)
Marlins -1 @ -120 = [10U]
> Josh Johnson has started 76 games @ home in his career. Only once has he lost back-to-back home starts in those 76 games. Since 2008, he has not lost back-to-back home starts. In those 76 games JJ has started @ home, only 4 times have the Marlins as a team lost back-to-back games; meaning the next start JJ made after a home loss, he got a No Decision as the Marlins lost the game. Since 2008, the Marlins have lost back-to-back games started by JJ twice. One of those times was this year, back on Sept. 1st - JJ pitched a gem going 8 innings and allowing only 1ER and the Marlins took a 3-1 lead into the top of the 9th only to give up 4 and lose the game 5-3 to the Mets... the same team he faces today.
Now, placing an *LPOY* play on the Marlins can be many things... foolish, crazy, bizarre, weird, making no sense what so ever. These Marlins have not hit well this entire 2nd half. And maybe you're thinking that since they've won in support of many ball games after Josh Johnson lost a home start that they'd back him up with great run support... well, that's wrong. This year, the Marlins are averaging 4.3 runs per game in this situation. Not so great at all...
Now, maybe a play on the UNDER instead of siding with the Marlins? Well, sounds a bit tempting, but when you pair the Mets' bullpen, with the Marlins' bullpen, the UNDER is out the window. Maybe a 1st 5 innings play? If you'd like, sure. But not me...
I am going to roll in full force of full support of backing the fact that Josh Johnson has not lost back-to-back home games since 2008 in which he's started 59 games in that span.
Best of Luck today, Thread'ers.

There are a lot of games on the board and will be on the board for the next 3 days that are very critical to only some teams. I want to try to stay away from the teams that have nothing left to play for and focus on the teams that do.
What are your thoughts on the Cardinals/Reds series? I think taking the Reds as a series bet is a great play here. I also want to take a series bet on the Dodgers who are dogs and in a must win situation. They have to win 2 out of 3 and the Cards have to drop 2 out of 3 to play each other in a matchup.
The Reds are fighting for best NL record with the nats; The Nats get Wang at home vs Kendricks; Looks like a lock;
The Reds put Arroyo on the road in STL vs Garcia.
The Dodgers get to play the Giants at home but Harang vs Cain game 1...
I will be doing the opposite - only team I'm sure I'll be playing the next 3 days are the Dodgers.

I can see the Phillies playing spoiler... they have the bats to do so....
I think if the Reds were @ home, it'd be different. I see 3 close games @ Busch.
And, like I said, I'll be on the Dodgers tomorrow night, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Stay away from all the must win games. The players don't really care and MLB wants a drama. The Dodgers - on the other hand - will be fulfilling that drama - most probably taking us to the last game tied with the cardinals. I rarely comment - but this must be said - Marlins today and the Dodgers are the plays. Yankees, most probably wanna extra game and will do anything to end up as the wild card team as they attract a biggest market. That's it.

So yankees, marlins and dodgers for tomorrow? Good luck Gil you aré great buddy
Read carefully, I said the Yankees would do anything to play an extra game and as they already clinched the wild card. I dont want any confusion because of my comment on Gil's thread.
