McDonald is 5-1 with a 2.31 ERA in 10 career appearances (seven starts) against Cincinnati.
Leake is 1-3 with a 3.16 ERA in eight career starts against the Pirates.

#6 Posted: 8/4/2012 10:00:16 AM Your play of the year is mike Leake at home? Vs McDonald and pirates? Anything in particular that makes this anything more than one unit play? Just curious. Im contemplating playing pirates. |

#8 Posted: 8/4/2012 10:22:43 AM Big division game with Bucs trying to catch Reds----lost game 1 last night----have McDonald going in game 2 today and as Crockie said he's 5-1 with a 2.31 era in 10 lifetime apprearance, 7 starts, vs the Reds.
A GOY play on the Reds? What do you see in Cincy today in game two Cash and bol by the way? |

#9 Posted: 8/4/2012 11:18:31 AM Hope you are right about the Reds because I will be at the game, but in this series this is the worse match-up. Good luck! |

#10 Posted: 8/4/2012 11:19:29 AM Now that's what I call a POY play! It's a play that doesn't "feel safe".
I like the play myself. |

#12 Posted: 8/4/2012 11:55:12 AM No reply from Cash? C'mon he must have some reason or reasons for taking the Reds to win the first two games of the series, not to mention listing game two tonight as his POY. Ah well, maybe another one of those games wwhereby he wins---it's a great selection; it loses, hey they weren't supposed to win anyway. |

#18 Posted: 8/4/2012 2:05:32 PM cashaholic never has plays that make sense to me. I've been a long time bettor and long time cashaholic fan... I rarely agree with the picks, tonight included, but the man wins as consistently as anyone on here... actually, probably more than anyone since most make much more of a fuss about themselves and then go tout when they are posting consistent winners.
My advice... blindly follow! Seriously.
I can't tonight though... I may be on the over in this one, but I'll wait for lineups.
--And you can throw J-Mac's career #s out the window, because he is in a serious funk right now. It's not due to any arm problem, no change in velocity, in his last 2 starts I bet the Pirates counting on J-Mac to find his control... he couldn't find his person with a vacuum cleaner tube at the moment. He keeps coming into the dugout looking rattled too, immediately going over to Burnett and getting his take on things, etc. ... he's really stuggling with his control, not himself at all. Leake hasn't been so hot lately either. |

#19 Posted: 8/4/2012 2:16:26 PM Leake has a better SIERA and xFIP than McDonald and the Reds are a better hitting team statistically just about across the board including babip, bb%, k%, weighted OBA, and power and the Reds are at home and the Reds are playing extremely well.
Just for the people seeming to NEED some justification for the play. |

#22 Posted: 8/4/2012 4:37:52 PM Mcdonald lost three of his last four games and leake has won four out og his last six.....in my opinion these are two pitchers headed in two different directions |
