just heard a report on local philly news station that cole and his agent have told the phillies they r looking for a 7 year contract extension
rough guesstimate would be around 25 mil per season, not sure if the phillies would be willing or able to do that...doc,lee,utley,howard all have big contracts for the next few seasons, by giving cole all this money, they wouldnt be able to add another significant bat which is what they r missing right now (besides the shitty bullpen)...gonna be interesting to see how this pans out

not saying they might not trade him but they need to sign and keep him and look to move Lee instead. They need to get younger. Hamels is a young lefty stud. Not the type of pitcher you wante to get rid of

not sure they would be able to move lee...big problem is he is due 25 mil per season each of the next 3 years, and he turns 34 in august, he also has had stints on the DL each of the past few seasons....not sure if any team would take a big chance on him...not sure what kind of prospects the phillies get in return, i wouldnt expect much though

Phillies have been in talks with Toronto. This is where the rumors became public. Not just saying this as a homer, but talks began in Toronto so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Don't dare do it Phils. Let him hit the skids. We have enough money tied up in starting pitching. Lets start to rebuild the team again for anothe rrun in the coming years.

the bad thing is that he will leave and the phillies will get absolutely nothing for him....i would say that their is less than a 5% chance he gets moved before the trade deadline

Cole Hamels is a good pitcher but 7 years good? When Buehrle signed with Miami i said i like Buehrle. Not for 4 years and not for 56 million. I see Hamels signing with the Dodgers for something like 6 years 132 million. Just my 2 cents
