I posted this in Jose's thread regarding the DET/NYY game but figured I'd throw it in here as well.
This is an interesting game, hitter. In actuality though, you have to subtract 10 cents from the BetCris opening line since they are a 20 cent book and always tack on the extra 10 cents to the favorite. So the opening line really was -130/+120.
I thought that was a tad high but not outlandish. When you consider Verlander just closed -165 at home against Feliz and the Rangers, you have to consider what he would close if he faced a similar caliber lineup but a worse pitcher (Nova)... -175? -180? Taking that into consideration, the -130 road chalk makes some sense.
My belief though, is that the Verlander/Feliz line was a steam/syndicate play that inflated the line. I see these from time to time, happened just yesterday when Josh Tomlin and the Indians closed -160 against the Royals which was preposterous. My true line for this game was DET -120, so I layed off.
Sorry for the long winded response... I just find this matchup/line interesting and am curious to see where it closes.
