I can understand Giants/Rangers fans talking shit if they care to. But the haters have no right because, unless you were a Giants or Rangers fan, both of our teams did make it further than theirs. Also, lets not forget that both teams with a smaller payroll won their respective LCS series so...that nonsense clearly goes out the window.
The only guy who made sense around here seemed to be Rangerz (in regards to being a guy who hates the Yankees).

I hear what you saying.I really have no problem with anyones fans its just the hating from people about the good performing and consistent teams should take a real good look at their organizations.
Listen in my area you have a ton of Eagles fans who are always chirping Super Bowl and nonsense. This team never can get it done and are underachieving chokers. Its not hating its a fact.

That's not exactly fair. I know Yankee and Philly fans went down each other's throats during the series, why wouldn't we? But this year, it seems as if we were the coolest of anyone. Everyone was ragging on the Yankees and Phillies going into the postseason and hoping they lost. And after every loss...we would get an earful.
This year there wasn't much trash talk. There was cocky talk, but there wasn't any smack talk coming from either Yankee or Philly fan until it was brought to them.

Payroll helps you get to the post-season, not win in the post-season.......have the Yanks missed the playoffs this decade?
Winning a 5 or 7 game series is a crapshoot.....excelling over 162 games is a product of talent acquired. Acquiring talent doesn't require a huge checkbook, but having the biggest checkbook in town (by a very healthy margin) certainly doesn't hurt.
But the argument about payroll size doesn't disappear because SF and Tex won their respective LCS series.

I agree with the Mice man..... The Giants just flat out played better this series...
Just like the Yanks... The Rangers just flat out beat their ass...
Not hating on the Yanks or Phills but they just got beat by teams that were playing better ball at the time...

Talking cocky and trash talking is different. I was cocky because I thought the Yankees were going to win this series. I never said Ranger fans are dumb for thinking they have a chance. I never said the Rangers didn't deserve to be in the ALCS. That stuff would have been trash talk. I went back at people who went at me...but I never brought it. And I don't think any of those people were even Ranger "fans".

Playoff Appearances:
3 AL East Teams
4 AL Central Teams
4 AL West Teams (ALL)
4 NL East Teams
5 NL Central Teams
5 NL West Teams (ALL)
All but 5 teams have made the playoffs over the past decade (Pirates, Royals, Nationals, Orioles and Blue Jays).
14 different teams (of 20 total) have made the World Series in the past decade and only 1 team (Red Sox) have repeated.
There is more parity in baseball than basketball and football over the past decade.
Obviously money means something. It's why a team like the Yankees are relevant every season and the Pirates aren't. But the Cubs are god awful and they have one of the highest payrolls in baseball. Same as the Mets.
The Rangers and Rays had very low payrolls. The Rangers ranked 27th and the Rays were in the 20s as well. The Reds weren't high in the rankings either. No owners can spend like the Yankees. Some can come close (Red Sox, Cubs, Mets, Phillies), but none can "outbid" them in a "bidding war". But that is what makes scouting so important. The Reds are in a great situation. They have a team full of young, home grown talent. They have 6 home grown guys who can be a part of their rotation next season. All their star players are home grown guys. And, since Votto is so good, they can even trade Alonso for a solid vet if they needed.
Look at the Rays and who they "grew". Twins as well. They're doing pretty well for themselves. You have to take what you can get. The Yankees have more...but it doesn't automatically make them a lock every year.

The Yankees really can't be compared to other "high payroll" teams........there is the Yankees and there is everyone else. I believe the Yankees payroll was $40 million ahead of 2nd this year......forget KC and Pittsburg, the number 2 team in payroll most years is tens of millions behind the Yankees. With their payroll they can buy their way into the playoffs.....and I think history proves that.
What your stats neglect to mention is that the Yankees have been to the playoffs 15 of the last 16 years......so there are effectively three playoff spots up for grabs in the AL..not the 4 that are available in the NL.
And yes, any team with any payroll can compete for a World Series..nearly all of the teams with smaller payrolls have a very limited window. Although there are exceptions, see Twins, Minnesota. However, once those teams and players achieve a measure of success, it is only a matter of time before their stars look to the Yankees to pay them. It seems a foregone conclusion that the Yankees will sign two of their main competitors best players in Cliff Lee and Carl Crawford in the off-season...as a KC fan, I'm excited about the prospects of Moustakas, Hosmer and some of the young arms coming up.....I also know that I will get to follow them for a portion of their careers and then I'll get to watch them play in NY if they are good. It's frustrating and a dis-service to baseball and it's fans.
Clearly the Yankees are operating within the rules of baseball.....but the practice of outspending everyone and driving up the salaries of all other players by overpaying for certain players isn't healthy for the game. It's healthy if you are a Yankees fan......but not for anyone else. I know this won't ever change, and I know this will be an annual debate. I got a hunch I know one playoff team next year.....not sure about any of the others.

That's not fair. You're going to penalize the Yanks for creating a dynasty in the early 90s? They just feeded off that and that is when their payroll started to jump dramatically.
And you can't blame the players for wanted to go for the money. Not everyone is Joe Mauer. Nobody wants to play for a team that has not shown life when they've played there. And if they can get more money to play for a team who wins...why fault them? Teams are a business. If you're in the Reds or Rays position right now, you have to spend money to keep your team atop. Why would Crawford want to go back to the Rays when the biggest addition they've made in the past 2 years were Soriano (Great) and Burrell (terrible)? They aren't making strides to say "we're trying here, you should come back". Obviously Jennings is their next Crawford...but why can't they have both?

In the Rays case they can't bring back Crawford because they don't have the revenue stream coming in.The only way that could happen is if the ownership took the millions needed out of their own personal accts/business because the baseball business is not wherte he can get money from.As greedy as all these people are its not going to happen.I am on record many times saying there is no way in hell I would pay a sportsplayer millions that would last 5 lifetimes.
