Tim Lincecum vs. Roy Halladay... overhyped = over?!

We all know what happens when the sports media over hypes certain events in sports.  Generally it turns out to be a big letdown and we're all left with a sour taste in our mouth after days and days of buildup.  Already I am seeing articles on Yahoo sports about this being a "potentially epic pitching matchup in Saturday's Game 1."

You all know the stats, you all know what happened with these two pitchers in their last series.  The under is going to publicly pounded until game time.  The media is going to fuel this game until first pitch.  It sounds like such a silly reason to bet against something, but I really would have to lean heavily on the OVER in this spot simply because of all of that.

Any thoughts?

I kinda do agree with the idea. It is rare the amazing pitching matchups turn into what they are cracked up to be. But with that being said I have a hard time betting on these teams getting to 7 runs. I kinda expected this line to be 5.5. At 6 it's tough to take the over but I do agree with your theory.

as a die hard phillies fan, i cant see them getting much off of timmy at all. also, i don't see roy giving up much, if anything, either.

i don't think SF getting much of Roy......but i think philly will hit timmy good.........

The theory is good, but it really depends on the line I think. Hype is often bologna I'd agree, however Halladay Lincecum is almost a sure thing for a low scoring game in my opinion. It will definitely be interesting to see the line on this match up.

I don't know if the hype is always justified, but in this case I think it is...Timmy has been straight dealing lately, and the Giants don't allow 4+ anymore, they also don't score 4. I wouldn't blindly bet the over-hyped theory when dealing w/ these 2 guys.

Bet the under or leave it alone.....trying to outsmart yourself and everyone else usually doesnt work.....do you really see someone scoring 4+ runs? Thats the question you must ask yourself

unders are hitting at least 75% in playoffs... i have bet on every under   its the year of the pitcher

Depnds on the Ump for starters. Do they get given a 56 foot wide zone, or a sandwich sized zone.

this may be the easiest under ever, final score is goin to be 2-1 somebody, most likely the phils as halladay is hungry for a ring

Phillies will get to Timmy early and hold on for a 1-0 victory.

MLB Playoffs = MONEY

Just take the best pitcher (2 units) and under (1 unit) every game and odds are you will win, so by the end of the playoffs you could bank big duckies.

the over should be 3...... SF cannot hit and Timmy can deliver with the best of them.

Always the threat of either of them giving up the long ball... other than that I agree. Gonna be an awesome series and I just can't wait.

First time for me that MLB will be watched over ANY football game going on at the time.

I WILL NOT BET THE OVER WITH THOSE TWO PITCHING,NOR WILL I BET THE OVER IN ANY GAME THAT BIG GAME CLIFF LEE PITCHES IN.

Why in the world would you want to bet an over with these 2 guys on the mound?  You dont have to bet the total either way

Im not sure that you can make this total any lower than 6 at Philly... I was thinking maybe 6.5 and that is low as hell for a game at Philly....
