Recently started using MLB.tv I notice its using up TONS of bandwidth I called and I'm currently at 66GBs for the month and its only the 10th!! I'm capped at 60GBs for the month on my cable internet plan. My question is this: does it make a difference if you watch it on the computer or the PS3? I obviously need to watch it but this cap is brutal. I've literally been using it for 5 days and I'm over the monthly limit so now incur charges up to $50.

Is there a workaround this?

if you are with rogers they limit their charges at $25. We've gone over 100gbs one month and rogers were pissed, lol. guess we got the most out of our 25, unlimited my ass

The jerk on the phone said $50. I heard max of $25 also. So what do you do? I mean watching one game can be 5GB I hear!!! Also, do you use it on computer or PS3?

There are seriously internet plans out there that have a limit?  I have never heard of this.

I did notice when I had MLB.TV on the computer, it would freeze up a lot.  So I lowered it from HD to the highest non HD and didn't have a problem. 

I have since gotten rid of it, because I'm gearing up for my NFL sunday ticket.

Yea its BS really. Theres months where I probably barely touch 2GB of usage so if they really charge me $2/GB overage charges I'll be fuckin pissed! I absolutely will not pay it just because of the principle. I am reading that the 1st time going over they'll just send a letter and wont charge and others are saying they don't actually charge people they just spread that word but time will tell. Fuck I really need to watch these games, since I've been scouting if you will I've been on a tear. These fuckers are going to slow me down.

Watching it on your computer vs. the PS3 won't make any difference.. what WILL make a difference is if you watch the standard def feed instead of the HD one.. I think it lowers your bandwidth usage by 75% or something.

It's all about how many bytes you're pushing through, not really about what machine you're using.

On PS3 I don't believe theres an option to watch in SD. Ofcourse on the PS3 it allows us to watch the game on a bigger screen (TV) as opposed to computer monitor. I was wondering if it used less BW on the comp but you just answered that question. Thanks. These motherfuckers man. The 10th day of the month and I'm over 60GBs. Maybe I'll just claim spyware and viruses

Are you a retard???? We're gamblers not internet technicians!!!!! Maybe you should call your internet provider and have them troubleshoot your issue....Maybe they can help you out and give you some advice about wagering on sports and your next thread can give us some pointers or maybe a winner... Thank you

Retard? No. If you knew how to read you'd see I already called and was told the amount of usage I had thus far. I thought of posting this in the tech section but I figure some guys have MLB.tv as well so the MLB picks section should yield some good feedback. if you don't know then don't click, read or post. simple.

Shitty Canadian Rogers. I wonder what they'll do when Netflix gets here. Thats streaming video also. This is unreal. It appears we have the most restrictive caps of anywhere on Earth with highspeed.

Wow, capped at 60GB. That really sucks. Comcast has capped me at 250GB, thankfully since I'm either watching MLB.tv or Netflix and use almost all of it.

Yea they really take advantage of the consumers because of the lack of competition. The not so funny reality is that with the arrival of netflix you'd think they'd raise the cap, but instead they will lower it even more, forcing non-techsaavy consumers to upgrade their modems and pay more money per month plus a $7/month rental fee for the modem. That is damn near extorsion. Its disgusting.

Yeah man, that is odd. Sorry.  I've never had to worry about how much internet I've used.  Actually, that might not be a bad thing to have.  Might keep me from staying up so late on this damn site LOL.

No its not good at all. So I have MLB.tv but I'll be lubing up to my cable provider to use it  The shit is already paid for. Pissed.

Well maybe run a cable from your PC to your TV.  Watch it in SD on you CPU and relay it to your TV.  That way you will avoid the HD on the PS3.
