After the last few days I cannot help but feel that every ace is a sucker bet. Anyone with some objective reasoning why I shouldn't take this one?
________
Sanchez isn't exactly chopped liver. And who is to guarantee that Ubaldo pitches a complete game. People act like -150+ on the road is a bargain. Not really with a pretty capable pitcher on the other side. I think the line is pretty much right on so no play. And the outcome of tonight has nothing to do with aces losing the last few days. GL

The Marlins aren't hitting a lick lately... they barely did anything against the Nats over the weekend, but up 3 runs over the weekend I believe. Facing Ubaldo isn't exactly a remedy for an offense that is slumping. I'm on the Rockies.

Yes, I'm aware of the law of independent trials, and I agree that the line is about right rather than 'good value'. My play on Col factored in what seems to be some relatively weak hitting on the part of the Marlins of late. You're right though, Sanchez isn't bad. I guess it's the current 89% on the same side that worries me more than anything...

I wouldnt say the aces got beat up, i would say teams didnt step up to save their aces. besides Halladay, but hes never beaten the cubs so i cant say i was shocked, plus the philly lineup has been anemic.
I'm on the rockies, florida hasnt been hitting well at all and i cant see them turning that around tonight. This should be a nail biter though as Sanchez ain't no slouch. I'll say colorado wins 2-0 or 2-1.

Agreed aces did not get beat up this weekend. Carpenter stayed on a roll, Wainright continued to dominate at home, Sabathia beat Tampa, etc.
There are only two things in this game that scare me:
1) Not seeing any money going on Florida. Reminds me of Lee against Baltimore and CC when he almost lost against Seattle/Roland-Smith. I always like to see some contrarians
2) More legitimate reason - Ubaldo has had significant time off since his last start (I don't count 2 innings in an exhibition game), and may be rusty for the first few innings, and may miss his spots.
With the two reasons, I see that he won't win, there are at least 10x as many as why he will win.

except the risktaker that does not lay off e.g. fading Halliday last night.

All valid points. So far nothing too scary in the line, up to -156 on my book. I find the movement much more difficult to read than in other sports, but I do like recording the early lines and comparing them to how they move throughout the day (exclusive to my book and via VegasInsider).

Sanchez is also on 10 days rest. Hes undefeated with that many days rest. My problem is how does he get the win when the marlins barely scored off stammen yesterday, and hernandez. I just can't see the marlins bats helping sanchez tonight and i think he gets a loss becuase the marlins are batting .217 against righties in the past 5 or so games.
