Yankees v Angels Discussion

That other thread was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too packed. Lets start this one. Who wins and why?
 
 
Angels own the Yankees in postseason ALDS series'.
 
But wait...didn't the Red Sox own the ANgels in postseason series'?
 
Yankees with homefield advantage have the edge in this game. And thats not speaking as a fan, honest. I've said it before, this series would come down to homefield advantage. If the Angels had it, it would be much scarier, but they don't.
 
Questions:
Gaudin or Joba? Whose going to be the Yankees' 4th starter. The smart move would be Gaudin because Joba helps the bullpen more than Gaudin would.
 
Kazmir starting Game 2 at Yankee Stadium or Game 3 in Los Angeles? Lefties have an advantage at the Stadium and Weaver is a much better pitcher at home. You have to believe Socia is thinking this way. It would be the smart choice, but who knows.
 
This will be an intense series. Great chance of a 7 Game Series. Most if not all games will be close. I see the Yankees winning in 7. Game's 1 and 2. Losing Game's 3 and 4 with Pettitte and Gaudin. Winning Game 5 with Sabathia. Losing Game 6 if it's Kazmir v Burnett. Then Pettitte would come back strong and win Game 7 at home, and if I set it up right, it would be Weaver for the Angels.

I see the Angels stealing game 1 with John Lackey! There goes your Yankee home field advantage right out the window! I think it will be a great series also going 6 or 7. I think this Angels team has the better starters while the Yankees have the better bullpen. Both lineups are lethal and strong 1-9! I think Mike Sciosca is the better manager. To be honest I have more faith in Lackey,Weaver,Kazmir and Saunders than i have in Sabathia,Burnett, Petitte and Gaudin. I see the Angels winning in 6!

Sabathia, Burnett and Pettitte were dominant.
 
Lackey and Weaver were dominant.
 
If you match them up...I see it going like this.
 
Sabathia  >  Lackey
 
Burnett  <  Weaver(at home)
 
Pettitte  >  Kazmir
 
Gaudin  <  Saunders
 
It's really a dead even imo. However...the Angels own Pettitte and Kazmir owns the Yankees. In all honesty...I can't go into this series and guarentee that the Yankees will win like I said against the Twins(albeit not much of a stretch). I think they will grind it out and, in the end, get the win, but it won't be easy. But as a fan, I'll be in front of my TV for every pitch and I think they'll just edge out the Angels, win the series and break the poor play against them. Remember...Boston started off 8-0 against the Yankees this season and finished 9-9. The Angels started off 4-2 against the Yankees but finished 5-5. The Angels were 4-2 against the Yanks in LA while the Yanks were 3-1 at the Stadium and 3-1 in September(most importantly).

Don't be surprised if Saunders starts game 2 especially if the Angels win game 1. Simply because a lefty in Yankee stadium will help neutralize that power to right field. Then you have Weaver pitching at home where he's been great!

Where is everyone getting these damn series' prices? I really don't believe it. This is the 3rd time I've seen it. The first one was right after the Angels won and the 2nd one was in the 9th inning of the Yankees/Twins game.

I'm not sure I could stomach betting on the Angels for the series.

I think an early series bet on LA might be in order. (IOWs take the + money series price over the lower game bet vs CC.)

Nah...he's just a really hostile Angels' fan who is trying to come up with a long shot to redeem himself because every time he argued with me in the other thread...he was defeated.

Angels steal game 1?  No problem but 1st Angels will have to get past  CY candidate C.C. Sabathia Good Luck

na even worst the yankees a team that they love to face they enjoyit, LMAO sorta like the same way YANKEES enjoy facing the twins. LAA has excercised there demon which was da red sox now thur facin the team they wanted to be facing. LOOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO  sparky i love goin back and forth with you. but hey man this is not the best yankee team i seen since they won it all. Im not drinking the KOOL-AID yet the twins jus had no shot after that devasting defeat of gm 2. LAA on the other hand riding sky high. sweeping the red sox ohhh my, now thats something even the YANKEES CANT buy!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha, really he has versus a team hes always hit well versus and yea he might do well versus laa too cause its also another team he enjoys hitting versus, but  hey were has JOHHNY DAMON been lol, were has tex been other then gm 2. u need more from 1-4 then jeter n arod to defeat the LAA.

Didn't the Yankees sweep the Sox in a 4 game series this season? And then a 3 game series later on? All after starting off 0-8. Anyway...

I'm not saying this team is better than the 98 Yankees...not many teams in history were as good as they were. However...this team is better than the Angels. They have the better bullpen. They have homefield advantage(which you can ask anyone, is more important than you make it out to be), and A-Rod is FINALLY clutch. Every single RBI he has gotten has been in a huge spot. Sabathia, Burnett and Pettitte were absolutely dominant in their starts. These Yankees will prove to everyone that they are worth every penny. Even if it takes 7 games to do so.

 

You talk about how the Angels have the Yankees' numbers. However, they are 5-5 this season against the Yanks(I think their best record against them in years). If the Angels can break the losing streak against the Red Sox...why can't the Yankees break their losing streak against the Angels? Also note that the Angels and Yankees have not met in an ALCS series. A 7 game series is a lot different then a 5 game series.

 

You know what? The Yankees have been doubted all season long. Not many people thought they would keep the pace that they did. Pleanty of people on here said they wouldn't sweep the Twins(for some odd reason) and they did. Now everyone is already saying the Angels are going to the World Series because of the past and I love it. The media was all over A-Rod, Sabathia, Burnett and Tex for getting all this money and said they wouldn't do anything in the postseason. Or that they would have to prove the them wrong before anything can be said different. They all did just that. They proved the media wrong and they got the job done. They have a huge chip on their shoulders and they will not go down quitely...thats for sure. When they went 3-1 against the Angels in September, they played 3 of those games like playoffs games(the last one was after they clinched and they had the Double-A lineup in)...especially the game in New York. They know how to beat the Angels now. It's only a matter of time until they prove it to all the doubters. Friday to be exact.

And Tex was on base when A-Rod tied the game in the 9th and rounded the bases in the 11th. That was more important.
