As a fan since 81 , I love that Cito is back (never should have left/been fired..that's another thread)
 
But with Burnett gone and Marcum /Mcgowan down it was going to be tough.. now we got a nice start going (on top of last years good finish) and now Accardo, Janssen, Ryan , Litsch, Romero are down too..
 
They have Halladay, Purcey, ( I guess they call up Brett Cecil)  and Scott Richmond ..
 
But who else can start ?
 
Damn these injuries ..

Tallet started last Saturday vs Oakland, and did well. He has been moved up to Friday. Cecil will start Saturday.

Good news about Romero is it isn't an arm injury (like all of those other guys listed). Strained oblique. Hope he isn't gone for long.

Brian Burres starts the Saturday game
 
Brian Bollinger or something like that has been called up to replace Ryan

BTW, Cecil has apparently been lit up his last two starts at AAA

Actually there has been no official transaction other than the Jays recalling Bullington .... he's the former Pirates #1 overall pick who the Jays picked up this off season.  But he's been used as a reliever thus far in AAA so he's likely the one to replace Ryan in the pen. 

As far as who replaces Romero the Fan 590 reported earlier today that it would be Burres but there has been no official word from the Jays to verify that.  I hope to fucking god it's not because this guy is the 2nd coming of Josh Towers ... 39 career starts with an ERA of 5.88. 

We do know that it will not be Cecil as he started for Las Vegas tonight and got shelled for the second straight game after a so so first outing.  The Jays AA staff has been very very good so far this season led by Fabio Castro who the Jays picked up from the Phillies for Matt Stairs last year.  He has yet to give up a run in 16.2 innings with 17:2 K:BB ratio.  Castro does have ML experience too ... why not run with him instead of this gas can Burres.  He last pitched on the 20th which would make Saturday his regular turn.

Cito says a lot of things that don't make any sense sometimes. 

If they did recall Burres why wouldn't they have announced it with the Bullington transaction?

I'm holding out hope that JP couldn't possibly be this retarded.  Burres wasn't even good enough to make the O's rotation which may be the worst in baseball.

It wasnt announced yet just in case there's a change of plans, I think Burres only has so many options left

the real question is - when Romero, Litsch & Janssen are ready for returns in May - who's the odd man out?  Scott Richmond?  I hope not, I like that kid

The Jays have no doubt had some bad luck with their rotation.

I was shocked at Richmond's performance tonight.  He's struggled big time vs left handed hitters and I thought he was gonna get pelted by the likes of Hamilton, Blalock, Davis .... while he did give up the 2 homers fortunately there was nobody on base. 

You still have to fill Tallet's spot and the whoever starts Saturday spot so only one of those guys will be out.  I'm sure by that time somebody else will be hurt.

Through 8 career starts now, Richmond has never given up more than three runs & has gone at least six all but once - that one time being that rain game weeks back

He's also had a .376 avg and 1.082 OPS against vs left handed hitting for his career.  That is something that absolutely needs to be fixed if he wants to stick around.

Cecil WAS going to be called up to make the start on Saturday until he got lit up like a Christmas tree yesterday.

Yes the Jays were going to call up their best pitching prospect who has never pitched more than 118 innings and start him on one days rest.

I concur that Burres sucks .. he got shellacked often as an Oriole ..
