they made mention of the short flight time in the article and said it was a factor in the decision to stay in Vancouver. still seems to make for some "same day confusion and running around"
BUT my Penguins do same day a LOT on B2B games to east coast destinations when the 1st game is in Pittsburgh and it usually doesn't seem to effect them much. 
You don't even have time to play a game of cards that flight is so short. It takes 1 hour and 28 minutes for the average person flying via westjet and you gain an hour in time so when you arrive it is only 28 minutes past the time when you just left Vancouver.
For a pro team they probably left at say 10am and arrived in Calgary at still 10 am with the hour time zone change.
I would have just gone to bed too. Easier the way the did it. As you can see in the links below there were zero travel issues flying into Calgary over the last 48 hours so maybe they gave that reason but that's hogwash.

thanks for the comp, my friend. I have always thought of this forum to be MORE about INFORMATION than anything else. there is less "my team rules, your team sucks" than the other forums (ex at playoff time)
seems the Hosersharks decided to stay overnight in Vancouver after last nights game because of Calgary weather and flying in today. don't know how this will effect them.

with only 1 Sharks goal, I was gonna comment "they might have been tired" BUT HOW could you TELL? they are 28th in goals for ahead of only the Senators, who have oodles of injuries, and the Bluejackes who, well, are the Bluejackets.
AND this is AFTER they scored at LEAST 4 GF's their first 5 games of the season and WON their first 7 thru Jan 31st. since then they have only won 4 games and scored more than 2 goals in regulation only ONCE
THIS is a team with Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Dan Boyle, Ryane Clowe, Martin Havlat, Scott Gomez and Michal Handzus? THESE guys should be FILLING the NET!!!
