had wings ML here, congrats hawks backers, one thing ive noted previously and ill say it again here without prejudice to either side...
deciding a game like this (and any other for that matter) on a shootout is IMHO the phoniest, most gimmicky, and to be perfectly blunt, absolutely worst method imaginable...
add an extra 5 minutes of OT, let it be decided properly, and if it isn't a tie isn't such an embarrassing outcome for hockey...
the shootout is garbage

i agree about the shoot out the extra 5 minutes is better but not a solution to the tie situation.

my suggestion is there doesn't have to be a solution to the "tie situation" during the regular season...
to "decide" a game as well-played as today's with such a cheap charade as a shootout is an insult to the game's integrity and the intelligence of any true hockey fan...
the result is phony points that manufacture tightly grouped standings...you have the "look" of a playoff race involving teams that don't necessarily belong there...
i don't believe a team should be "rewarded" when it loses a game...
and if an overtime period of 5 or 10 minutes during the season isn't enough to determine a winner, then awarding both clubs a point is an honorable resolution...
im all for progress and new ideas, just leave the carnival acts to conklin...
