Just food for thought for the people who curse themselves after finding out that the team they've bet on decided to play their backup goaltender.
Some of these are small sample sizes and some play for teams that are just naturally good at defending in front of any goaltender. Still...you'll get my point.

As shaky as Cam Ward has been, I don't know why Dan Ellis isn't getting a shot to win that starting job in Carolina who have a pretty good team. Ellis has never had a GAA above 2.93 in 7 NHL seasons but always seems to be backing someone else up, whether it was Rinne, Mike Smith, or Giguere.

I agree weeb.. i've realized backups have been doing well this year too.. They have more to play for since their still trying to become the starter. It all matters if they can stay consistent enough..

What about your boy Scrivens numbers Weebs, I have not looked but they must be pretty solid?
Even better...Leaf goaltenders are a combined 11-7 with a 2.20 GAA and .927 save % (good enough for 3nd-best in the NHL, behind Crawford/Emery and Anderson/Bishop) and only Phoenix has more shutouts than they do. Who woulda thunk it?
