I think so, of course there are injury problems, but what team doesn't have them now. I believe it's time to make a change, the players have tuned him out. If not then they need to overhaul the team. But much more easy to change the coach.
What do all of you think. Let's have some good discussion about it. Let's hear from some Buffalo fans.

I watched that game last night and man, they're making a ton of mistakes. From bad line changes to careless turnovers to turnovers at blue lines, they just look like a mess. I'll give them credit that they came out of the room each period with a push, which tells me the spirit might be there, but they couldn't overcome the mistakes.
IMO they have better talent than their record indicates, so despite the fact that mediocre goaltending is really their biggest downfall, I think they need to consider a new coach.
And by the way Lipps, the Jets have hosted 6 teams on back-to-backs this season, and Winnipeg is 6-0. So I don't like Buffalo's chances tonight.

With all that being said, Jets only -150? I dont get this line.

Lindy Ruff didn't sign Leino for $4 mill a year, he also didn't sign Hecht to $4 mill a year, nor Stafford, Roy, Leopold to $3 to $4 mil a year deals. Lindy is a great coach, Reiger needs to go IMO. They over paid the shit out of some guys and that is on Reiger, sure Ruff has input put Reiger made the deals.

Ruff won't be fired this season and probably not next season either. He is a HUGE part of the Buffalo community and is not going to be made the scapegoat for what has transpired this season. It isn't pretty right now in Buffalo but the team will stay the course and likely still make a playoff push. Lindy doesn't have to worry until this time next season if things aren't much better.

Being a life long Sabres fan, I believe the roster is the issue with this team. Outside of Paul Gaustad, Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville, and Robyn Regehr, none of these players play with any kind of intensity or determination. They seriously play like they are playing pick up hockey and none of them like to go into the dirty areas and grind out pucks. Tyler Myers should be killing guys with how big he is. Ryan Miller IS a one year wonder! His numbers outside of his all-world season a couple of years ago are average at best. Derek Roy has a lot of talent, but he disappears when it matters the most. Patrick Kaleta could be a terrific little hockey player if he wasn't such an idiot! Drew Stafford has completely gone away after he got paid. The list goes on and on. Ever since Briere and Drury left, this core of players has failed miserably. When they failed to beat the Flyers in the playoffs last year, I knew this team would never go anywhere with these players together. They couldn't beat the Flyers with that goaltending they got!! Seriously??!! Pathetic! Time to start rebuilding. I would fire Darcy Regier before Lindy Ruff, but I say get rid of them both. They need new direction with fresh faces, and players that play with heart and grit....the way the game is supposed to be played.

Reigier and Huff are attached at the hip. But if it comes down to Reigier's job, I'm sure he would have no problem firing Ruff. Reigier claimes there will be no shakeup. But I find that very doubtful to believe.

I honest to God know where Lindy Ruff lives and am friends with his neighbors. I was at a Christmas party in Buffalo in December with his neighbors and season ticket holders watching a game in which Buffalo beat Florida 2-1 in OT. We were discussing the Sabres and from this and listening to sports radio in B-LO I get the feeling that the vast majority of Sabre fans want Lindy to stay. If anything it's DR that everybody wants out. People understand that Lindy is well respected across the NHL and one hell of a coach. I also think Lindy gets a lot more goodwill then others would because he's a Buffalo guy that lives in and loves the city. In a city where public perception is that everyone wants out, wanting to be there and having the record as the longest serving coach in pro sports, really means something.

..... I would agree most intelligent Sabres fan don't want Ruff out of town, he is a great coach. Reiger is a different story, and I also agree drivetime, Drury was the heart and sould of this team, he was a winner that kept everyone of those youngsters accountable, when he left it has been downhill since. Miller is a good goalie but like most goalies is a head case, when things go bad for goalies like that, they go real bad!

In those 14 years he's done good things with questionable ownership. Now with a solid and dedicated owner, he deserves more time. Just an off year for many on this team, they'll be fine.

I honestly had this team pegged to fight the Bruins for first in the Northeast Division.
They have had more than their share of injuries but the goaltending has been atrocious and injuries or not...they have too much talent on the roster to be doormats right now. It seems their play has become worse as they have gotten a few players back.
I agree Reiger overpayed for some players since the new owner gave him carte blanche...but Lindy has been there for so long...I think it has become stale. He is probly hanging on since they have had a recent history of making solid runs at the end of the year.
I think a shake-up is in order and fairly quick. I don't believe Ruff will make it through the year unless a turnaround is immediate. The Leino signing was awful but I like Pomminville...Roy...Gaustad and Vanek. They are the core and maybe they are not listening to Ruff any more????
Kaleta certainly is not getting the message (undisciplined) and Miller has seemed to be on the verge of checking out of the whole program.

Hard to see a coached being let go when he's been around about 14 years with Buffalo. Lindy seems to have 9 lives and has gained carte blanche with his tenure. The current owner is a big hockey fan and suave business man, and I don't see him firing Lindy mid-season. Especially if you go back and watch the pre-season press conferences with the owner and Lindy talking future plans and so on. It is amazing that Lindy has lasted this long, but the general consensus is that he has always done well with what he's been given as far as players.
The firings of all the coaches this year is rather ridiculous if you ask me. Especially seeing guys like Boudreau switching teams because of the supposed idea that players need a new voice and lose respect for someone. You're either a good coach or not. However, some teams have rich pricks with enough power who can get coaches canned if they are tight with the GM or ownership.

they have to ride enroth until his legs fall off, they need more hard nosed cdn kids on that team, most minutes go to euro plyrs, couple overpaid german plyrs (german kids dream of winged goblins and chocolate factories not stanley cups). if you r going to go short on cdn kids do the detroit model and make sure your euro plyrs r way above avg. although detroits lack of cdn plyrs hurst them post season the last few. they have too many undersized plyrs.
never big lindy fan his teams never have identity, not a tough team, not a skilled puck moving team, what r they? his whining in press conferences r uncomfortable to watch, that miller lucic rant was a joke, he will not be fired.
