They are built similar to the Mavericks from two years ago.
-Chandler and Kidd on the roster, don't underestimate their leadership; there is a reason Kidd left to join Chandler in NY.
-Melo and Dirk's game are very similar, offensively focused.
-JR Smith very similar to the volume shooting JET provided.
-Felton can penetrate the lane similarly to Barea.
-Surrounded by 3 point shooters.
Only thing they are lacking is a perimeter defensive presence to at least bother Wade and Lebron. Matrix and D. Stevenson were able to accomplish this task for the Mavs.
In short, NYK are a kind of Mavs re-tread. Just my two cents.
I placed a future bet on NYK when they were 9/1 and also more recently at 25/1.

i guess i would just say that this miami team is way better than that miami team. the bench has beaten a few teams and play with confidence or are veteran trey bombers.
lebron on melo will not be a durant-like lockdown but melo isn't going to be grabbing too many offensive rebs. i've faded the crap out of the knicks the last half dozen games and have gotten burned.

@nooob I totally agree with you that this team is better than the one two years ago. Bench is very good, Birdman was a HUGE pickup for them. But the blueprint is there - and if any team can do it, I would have to choose the NYK.

cool value bro, but you wasted your money. the knicks aren't beating the heat in a 7 game series.

The Mavs would have never beat this Heat team in a 7 game series. Mike Bibby running point was a huge issue. They also didn't have any of the depth they have now, not to mention the experience of playing together.
Taking the Heat at -200 is dumb just because the possibility of injury or anything like that. Taking any other team is even more dumb though.
If you want to bet on a future, bet on someone to win the western conference.

The problem with this is that the Heat are no longer that team that blow it in Dallas. They are way better, deeper and experienced...and they lack a stopper for Lebron

Did you read that at NBA.com ?
Very poor article, no comparison to the 2 teams.
The most important stat with the highest correlation to victory in the NBA, field goal % differential, the Mavs out-shot their opponents by 2.5% right at the level of past NBA champs.
The Knicks have been out-shot by their opponents by 1%, teams out-shot don't win NBA titles, they don't get to NBA finals, in fact they don't make conference finals, Knicks are history after the opening round...................................................

Figured Vegas would be smart and price the HEAT around 1/2. Saw some -140 prices on offshores.
Reason I ask is if this HEAT team stays healthy the bottom line is no team can compete with them. They won the ship last year solely with LeBron. Wade wasn't Wade with a knee injury and Bosh wasn't Bosh with his lingering Abdominal injury. IF, which is a BIG if, they stay healthy they won't have much competition. I still think OKC comes out of the West, but they aren't the same without Harden. I will be first to admit I thought the Harden trade would be better for them originally, but I take that back; they just aren't the same with him running the point off the bench.
As for the Knicks giving the Heat trouble, give me a break. The best defender in the league will cover Melo, and you can tell he always gives Melo a tough matchup. Melo is great bc he's a lights out shooter but is extremely quick matching up against bigger guys when he plays 4 and can take em to the hoop; too bad lebron is just as quick (quicker). I just cannot see the Knicks, or anyone, contending with the HEAT for 7 games. To be honest, I will go on the record and say the Heat don't even match up with the Knicks. I think Indiana is the Heat's biggest challenge and I think they take down the Knicks in round 2. Hope I am wrong as Id rather my heat play the Knicks.
Bottomline is I think you must take a chance on the Heat at -190 or -200. It is a fantastic price, and if there is an injury you can hedge for a little loss. You cannot lay off this great value bc of risk of injury which is something you cannot control. The first year was the best shot at this team losing; and they did with a sub par finals from wade and a weak bench. Lebron single handedly won a ship last year with bosh n wade at 70%. Now you have them all healthy, along with a healthy Miller, healthy/improved Haslem, Ray Allen, and Birdman? It is scary. The sky is the limit for this squad. But hey, thats just my opinion, what do I know?
