I come from a poker background. In poker you can learn from winning players and become a winning player yourself. I thought the same could be done with betting sports. TBH I believe it most likely can though the experts keep it on the hush. For instance wong teasers. I know at one point they were a winning proposition but books have adjusted.
Here is my biggest issue with Covers. Everyone and there mom throws out there picks and claims they know there shit. On top of it they are picking every game every night. I respect very few posters here. The one I most respected was Smartbets. He bet very few games and when he bet it was for a reason.
IMO in order to beat the books you must be disciplined. If you bet 3 games a week and go 2-1 you win. If you bet 5 and go 4-1 you win. Where people go wrong imo is betting every game every day. To win you have to go ~55% or better and even then you arent doing all that well.
Why the rant? I haven't spotted a disciplined capper on here in quite some time. Would love to hear who people think are good. I would also love to hear any advice on learning how to cap on my own .
Thank you.
TL;DR -Cappers on covers are a joke. To many bets=losing money. Who is the most disciplined capper here? How can I learn to cap on my own?

Smartbets is a tool. He went tout and he whines like a bitch on Twitter during games he's bet on. He had a nice run last year but he's not a guy you should look at for guidance.

You right, people that bet too many games find themselves no better than about 50 to 55 percent even if they are good. It's the Action person in a lot of us that comes out when we win a few, lol.
There are good cappers on here, but it's up to you to take from what they give you and use it to your own advantage. I would never tail a guy's every pick, to me that's just stupid. Covers should be used for information for the most part to help you pick your own games.

You are correct, discipline is THE key to make profit. A lot of people here though seem to just don't mind losing money for the hobby.
One great selective approach right now would be fading the Lakers till they cover a game... and I don't think it's too late to ride aboard this fade train..

They KEY isn't how many bets are placed, but more the amount per bet. You can go 55%, but if your bets are adjusted based on how you perceive the outcome, you can still be far ahead.
Sports gambling in some ways is like playing poker.
1. You have the every bet poker player that will small bet/call to see a flop, just like the sports better who has to make multiple bets a day.
2. You have the reserve/tight poker player, that will only bet with a hand pre-flop and they are equivalent to sports bettors that bet once a day or a few times a week waiting for their game.
Both scenarios all end the same.. the outcome in poker is decided on the draw of the cards (you can dominate all day, until the turn or river screws you over), and the same goes for sports.. where plenty of us have scene a team blow-out another team too early, sit back and the bettor end up with a back-door .
Take what you read purely as insight on what another capper is thinking and tail if you are undecided, BUT never use it as your everyday source decision making. As every touted capper on Covers have days where their strong predictions go the opposite.
Hey, at the end of the day.. bettors can't account for player stupidity on the field. Case in point.. the Green Bay vs Seattle debacle. IF Jennings does what every Coach says and bats the ball away, the game is over and GB wins and covers.. instead Seattle backers get a miracle call.

You arent going to get any valuable posts on this... Everyone sees posts like this weekly if not daily. Your best bet if youre going to tail is just to follow closely then continue with who you feel comfortable with

Agree, if you are going tail a capper, review their past picks and avoid the "Lock" or "Play of the year" cappers
