#1 Posted: 2/1/2012 6:20:28 PM I got off to a nice start, then crashed badly, but the numbers always catch up with the teams and I am going to play one or two best bets per day for the month of February. If I make a substantial profit it will continue in March, if not, I will lick my wounds and wait for MLB, All plays for 100 units and I will do the more important thing, track the return on risk.

#4 Posted: 2/2/2012 4:39:46 PM I will never understand a person who puts "100 units" on a game.. lol
just fuckin make your unit bigger broseph. its annoying like you're deliberately trying to make it seem like a bigger deal by emphasizing the UNITS which are probably DOLLARS.
you're a decent capper. bet one unit a game and pick 60%. dont complicate things. |

you're a decent capper. bet one unit a game and pick 60%. dont complicate things. That is answering my point, bro. Nobody here or anywhere else has any idea what a "unit" is from one handicapper to the next, so things get all distorted with "15 units on A", "12 units on B", "4.5 units on C", blah blah blah. Heck, most guys never go back and see if the capper is even accounting properly.
As for saying if you are betting $100.00, just call it 1 unit and hit 60% that doesn't level the field of comparison at all, because no one has any way of knowing if a player is playing 1, 5, 10 or 100 dollars per unit. That is why I rely much more on ROR, return on risk, which absolutely, positively can not lie or distort the results of any wager.
A -110 wager returns 90.9% of the risk in profit if it wins, period. The size of the wager or "unit" is irrelevant, the quality of the wager is in its return on risk.
So, if a guy goes 18-12 in a 30 day month and hits 60%, but played only 1 "unit' each and is up only 4.8 units most Covers Forum readers will say "no big deal" but if he is up 480 "units" he will be scorned and laughed at, even though the 60% and 14.54% ROR are exactly the same thing.
If a guy invests $10,000 dollars in a stock and makes $1,000 profit (10%) was it a better investment than the $2,000 he invested in another stock that made $300.00 profit (15%) because it made more "units"? Most guys would say, correctly, they wish they had reversed the 2 investments; then the "units" of profit would be far higher on the greater Return On Risk ($1,700 as opposed to $1,300). So, that is the figure to watch and always be aware of, not the "units".

I wonder if a guy could make a few dollars offering a service like that on EBay?

If I value rate the T-Wolves 6-4 road record versus the Bucks 6-4 home record (last 10 only) I get a total rating of 100.2 to 94.5 in favor of the T-Wolves. It was an interesting exercise I may continue.
