"It got tough for us and we got frustrated and we quit," Hawks coach Larry Drew said, uttering the one word no one wants to hear after a tough loss. "I don't think nobody out there is trying to quit. They just made good plays. We don't have (any) quitters on this team. " —Jeff Teague, on what went wrong against the 76ers.
I am very high on this Hawks team this year and I they were in a tough spot without Horford on the road yesterday and still played well in the 1st Half against one of the best East Coast teams in the Sixers. They were up 8 into the half but then couldn't score in the 2nd half when the Sixers turned it up. Larry Drew, Coach, tried to send a message to his team with his comments. In the past the Hawks have quit many times when the going got tough. This year they have done great against good teams and haven't "quit" in games like they have in the past. I think the Hawks come out hungry tonight at home where they are great.
They go up against a good Cavs team. However, after a good road trip the Cavs lost at home to the Warriors and off of 2 days got smacked in the mouth at home to the Bulls who were without Derrick Rose. Losing by 39 points at home will deflate their confidence and I think they are in bad shape going up against an angry Hawks team that will be heading out on the road after tonight. Teague will do well versus Irving and the Cavs will be flustered by the Hawks good D.
Spurs +3.5 (-105) to win 20 units and Spurs ML (+140) to win 7 units
The Spurs are playing their 4th game in 5 nights. So they'll be a little tired, but with the exception of Tony Parker none of the Spurs have played heavy minutes oustide of the Orlando game on Wednesday. Also the Spurs are off of a disgusting loss at home to the Kings yesterday where they were flat from the get-go. I'm sure the Spurs will be up for this big division game especially considering that they got clobbered by 20 in Houston earlier this year on a b2b, and barely won at home against Houston on a b2b by 6 in OT.
People won't realize that the Rockets will be running on fumes here. They wrapped playing 6 games in 8 nights. They had one day off, but had a physically draining game against the Hornets winning in Overtime. Key front court players for the Rockets are banged up and potentially OUT for the game in Dalembert and Hill. Martin and Lowry have played a ton of minutes so I don't think they'll be running circles around a proud Spurs team. I don't think Houston should be favoured by 3.5 over the Spurs especially with the public backing them. I like the Spurs here.
Nets +8 (-103) to win 15 units
I'm well aware that the Thunder are off of an embarrassing loss to the Wizards on the road and have 2 days off to think about it. However, the Thunder are not a good road team when laying a lot of points and they don't sound too panicked after their loss. The Nets meanwhile are finally getting healthy and playing good basketball.
The Nets beat the Suns on the road, played the Nuggets, Clippers, and Hawks very competitively over the past week or so. They have had two days off to get pumped for this great team in the Thunder. Deron Williams will matchup well with Westbrook. Humphries and Okur have done well on the glass and will compete well with Ibaka and Perkins. Deshawn Stevenson is a good defender and did well with the Mavs last year in a series against Durant and I expect him to give Durant some fits tonight. It's a risky play fading the Thunder off of a loss, but I believe in this Nets team tonight.

Great logic on the Houston game. I've been leaning that way all day. For the record my point spread ratings on that game suggest Houston should only be -0.5, At -3.5 they're definitely overvalued.

That's fine it's not like doing much of anything this year. With Dalembert and Hill not 100% I don't think the Spurs will get exposed inside and they have Splitter on the bench.
I don't think the Spurs bend over here.

Ya I think everyone is fully aware the Spurs are playing 4 in 5. However, the Rockets coming off of 6-in-8 and a tough OT game, I don't they'll have enough to blow the Spurs out of the water.

First off, god bless Kyle Lowry of the Rockets. With 3 seconds left up 3 he rebounded the Spurs miss and instead of holding on to the ball to get fouled and ruin my +3.5 play, he chucked it down to court to let time expire and win me money.
2-1 ATS, with the Hawks play hitting easily and the Nets blowing countless easy shots for the cover whenever they got down 9 points.

I don't have a favourite NBA team yet, but every year I jump on a team's bandwagon. Last year it was the Grizz and this year it's the Hawks. I'm going to be backing this team a lot this season and I think if Horford comes back, McGrady and the bench stays healthy, and when Hinrich gets back they are the 2nd best team in the East.
