people made perkins out to be something he's not - hes just "the fat guy in the middle" and boston knew it, thats why they wouldnt pay him and then traded him and people made out he was the reason the celtics didnt win the championship
well perkins is one of the main reasons the thunder didnt win the western conference last year - his fat arse was so useless he was on the bench snarling at his 4.5 ppg in 17 playoff games
perkins career playoff stats: 6.4 points, 6.7 reb, 1.4 blk in 26.2 mins

its not all about the stats.. plus his contract isnt ridiculous compared to some of the guys i posted in my other thread.
Okafor is getting 12 mil, 13.5 mil, and 14.5 mil in 2013/14...
Biedrins is getting 9 mil till 2013/14...
Just to name a few bad big men contracts..
you are exactly correct those guys are so overpaid it aint even a joke
okafor and biedrins amongst others are way way overpaid and definetly overlaid however i dont think anyone actually rates those guys so they are not majorly overrated such as some one like k.perkins

What makes Perkins overrated, does he not bring exactly what people expect of him to the table? Perkins isn't the least bit overrated, and to be honest his contract is probably the most affordable big man contract in the entire nba. this guy does very similar things to tyson chandler defensively, but okc got away with extending him for half the money tyson got. Perkins is making WAY below market value, and that's saying a lot because when you look around the league for rim protectors Perk is one of about 4 or 5 such players in the entire nba. it's not his stats, it's what he brings to a team. he's a defensive anchor that prefers to make his living doing what very few other guys in the game emphasize. if you were making a list of underrated/underpaid guys, perkins should be at the top of it. his salaray/benefit to the team ratio is totally out of control, presti got a huge steal.
bringing up last year is a very poor example and shows shortsightedness. perk was seriously injured and playing at about 65%, he couldn't run or get any lift. look at the shape the guy is in now and the difference he is making on okc, that team cares about defense now more than they ever have before getting him.

as a huge celtics fan, i know that perkins isnt a bad player at all, he doesnt fill the stat sheet ill admit but his teamates loved him (that is huge) He adds chemistry, adds toughness and yes he does add good D even though like i said it doesnt show in the stats...Dwight Howard himself said that perkins is one of the best defenders he has ever faced..

You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting. You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play.
They also are not tweeting about themselves talking about going down to No. 2. I just feel [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him.

if overrated means overpaid, then Kobe is among them. And I've been a Lakerfan since 93. Yea Kobe's still one of the best players in the league but he's set to make $30M next year. Thats almost half of the team's cap. Kobe's contract is handcuffing the Lakers' ability to get better players. Considering his age and the fact that he can no longer carry a team on his shoulders, he is just not worth the $30M based on his play. But if you factor in his overall worth to the Lakers, then Kobe is far from overrated and you can even say he's UNDERpaid. Dr. Buss once said Kobe is worth more like $80M per year with the amount of revenue he brings in.
