1. l.james - easily the best all round player in the game
2. d.nowitzki - best closer in the nba
3. d.howard - best bigman and defender in the nba
4. k.durant - freakishly good
5. d.wade - dead set superstar
6. c.paul - best pure PG going today
7. d.williams - awesome PG and defender
8. d.rose - MVP
9. k.bryant - still great

#2 Posted: 12/7/2011 1:46:14 PM I would not have Dwayne Wade in my top 10. Also, Derick Rose is the best PG in the league right now. For some reason he is still underrated.
Otherwise I agree with your list

#7 Posted: 12/7/2011 8:28:19 PM Take Chandler away from Dallas and the Mavs would have been soft as ....tissue paper.
Don't mistake a list for individual talent....and team accomplishments from individual skill.
No one player does more things well than LBJ in the league.
When measuring a player it is not just pts scored....or 4th qtr scoring.....defense...blocks.....rebounds.....scoring...steals all come into play.
That being said....when looking at the totatilty of a BB player....LBJ has all the skills....some players have some skills....but LBJ does more things better than all the superstars.
Anyone that says 4th qtr scoring trumps all catergories is simply being unrealistic.
Translating this to football.
Do you want the running back that can break it long and also get the short yards...and catch the ball and block
or just the third down running back with good hands on 3rd down (i,e, 4th qtr scoring)
Do you want the receiver that can go deep...and also go across the middle or just the 3rd down receiver moving the chains (i.e., 4th qtr scoring)
The media has written a script that is just not true...and that's why when these lists get typed "who is best ALL AROUND PLAYER" folks look crazy when they at LBJ

dirk is my favorite player of all time but i am impartial - lebron is also the best defender at his position in the nba unfortunetly dirk is only an average defender
uneducated nba fans such as yourself who know garbage all about basketball dont understand it is a 2 way game even if offense is more important

true
nba aint one on one though, it aint boxing its a team game
beside people tend to know who is a better player than someone else at a particular point in time also taking into consideration past performance |

I respect Lebron James for being a great player. With that said, he still isn't the best player in the league... and we could go on all day about this with each other's opinion. However you cannot HIDE facts, that Lebron James shrinks under pressure when the game is on the line. Simply stated, you cannot nominate a player for being the best player in the league when they led the league in turnover % last year behind Russell Westbrook and John Wall. For every great play he comes up with, there is usually and equally opposite worse play that comes about. There is a reason James did not even come close to winning the MVP last year as previous years - he isn't the same player as he was in Cleveland. Sorry to say this, but his best days really are behind him. He is not going to get any better. Post defense??? One of the most atrocious post-up defenders in the league. If Lebron does not develop a hook or some kind of back to basket shot start happening on a regular basis, he will never be the player the fans want him to be. He has become predictable with his moves and can be shut down.
Its either a travesty you have Durant below James - or you are a serious Miami Heat homer with a serious bias. |

#15 Posted: 12/9/2011 12:48:27 AM u have a white guy as the 2nd best player in the league, he's not a very good defender, he's slow and all he can really do is shoot, |

#17 Posted: 12/9/2011 1:17:44 AM After the postseason he had last year, Dirk Nowitzki deserves to be the clear cut number one no question about it..

he is a machinegun on offense and a on defense
who else would you put in the top 10 then?
only the PFs have what it takes to be top 10 in the near future : l.aldridge/k.love/b.griffen amare is close to the top 10 but once again cant play a lick of defense, westbrook needs alot of improvement to get there |

#21 Posted: 12/9/2011 10:31:49 AM LBJ is top 10 but not number 1. He has not proven to be a winner in the most important moments of games, or playoffs. I would put him below Kobe, and Dwade for sure. Both of those guys want the ball and both have won a championship on there shoulders. |

#23 Posted: 12/9/2011 12:10:46 PM Top 10 is pretty vague though. Are we counting in durability, playoffs? clutch? or just overall talent? If we did a top 10 of who i would built my team around, i would have a totally different list..

you are exactly right, great offensive player but shitty on defense and he has only gotten out of the first round ONCE!! in his whole career..I want winners on my top 10. I like you wink, im just debating with you...
My top 10 i think is the same as yours except i would definitely take out melo and put in:
K Love ( a beast 20pts a game, 15 rebs) did some 20-20 games last season.. He shot 85% from the FT line, amazing for a big man. 41% from 3pt land!!! (made the same amount of 3pts per game average as Melo but shot less attempts) ... Yes he played on a shitty team but his rebound stats were Wilt like. And melo had Billups and amare but his team underachieved.. |
