I really like you as a player Joe, but you dont deserve a max contract (about $20 Million per year) ........
especially after tonights box score in a crucial game...

i agree... but here's the same...
there are only 4 players in the NBA who right now deserve max pay...
1) Lebron
2) Kobe
3) DWade
4) DHoward
CP3 and Bosh belong in the next group, along with a few other guys (Rose needs to be in this group very soon)... Joe Johnson is right below those guys...
but the way the NBA works... probably all of the first 3 levels of guys will somehow manage to get a max contracts...

you are exactly right... teams overpay guys bigtime, the 3 and even 4th levelled players are getting max or near max contracts which is sick... even guys like free agent David Lee will get over 10 mil next year easily.

you've been around awhile... you rememeber a big man who played for the Sonics back when Peyton was still there... he was totally unproven and the Sonics paid him like 10 million a year and he was just complete shit...
can't think of his name... good example of your point, though...

yeah but i think he meant Vin Baker, and Baker was making over 10 mil with the Sonics... plus i think he got resigned by the Sonics.

i was so curious i had to look it up...
Vin Baker signed a seven-year, $87 million contract with the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday evening, then promised he would never single-handedly keep the Sonics out of the playoffs again. "We didn't make the playoffs last season because I was out of shape,"Baker said. "I told my teammates and the organization that I will not be the reason we miss the playoffs again." Those comments were good... |

absolutely right..... I never did like Johnson's attitude when he left phoenix, thinking he deserved to be the "the man"
....further proof that johnson is not a max guy, he is quoted as saying "I could care less if they showed up or not" in reference to him being bothered by booing of fans..... (https://espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=300508001)
Dude does not seem to know who actually pays his salary.... Any true star shows up to play because he knows he is the show.... MJ rarely missed a game and always came to play, partly because he knew his games were an event and he was a performer putting on a show.....
Atlanta fans deserve to get their money back for the pathetic performance and in a perfect world, no one would show up for game 4 to send a message to Joe Johnson ....
The worst part is that Johnson will leave this summer, get his money somewhere and only ones who get screwed are true basketball fans living in atlanta, who will have to witness another pathetic era of Hawks lottery teams for the next 5 years....
