Mo Williams
is a good player, he had a great regular season, but he can be stopped. He’s not an elite scorer. Put some length on him, get up in his face,
and he’s going to have some trouble getting his shots off. A year and a half ago Delonte West and his
cold sores were coming off the bench for the now defunct Seattle
Supersonics. Now all the sudden he’s
supposed to be the third leading scorer on an NBA title contender? That’s a pretty big jump. Everyone is saying these guys have to step up
and play better, but maybe they’re just not capable of doing it. They’ve never been in this position
before. That’s putting an awful lot of
pressure on two guys who don’t have top flight talent, size or
athleticism.
There are
just mismatches all over the place in this series for the Cavs. Illguskas cannot guard Dwight Howard. If I were Mike Brown I would take drastic
measures and put Lebron on him. Delonte
West is 6-3 and he’s being asked to guard a 6-10 player in Hedo Turkoglu. That’s just asking for trouble. Whereas some people are thinking how is a
team that won 66 games with Lebron James down 2-1 while getting vastly
outplayed, I’m thinking the Cavs had an outstanding regular season, wildly
overachieved, and now reality is finally setting in against a team that is a
horrible match-up for them. Are the Cavs
in a must-win situation?
Absolutely. But if they were
really that good in the first place they wouldn’t have put themselves in this
predicament.
