Mak's Friday Funk

Got that box Carter in Toronto today, of course your boy Mak will always be at the games live to boo Vince.  I may not have time to play the remaining slate as lines haven't been shown but I will try to play them and post later today since I don't really like anything on the board today wagers will be low..  Good luck gents.

PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS - 3.5 - - - Really and truly Sacto is overhyped at home, granted the Arco Arena is gonna win them some games this year however Portland is just too good right now.  Oden has arrived and what about Joel Prizzbyla? The starting C for POR is killing it.  Straight up don't want to list the whole Portland team but you know who has the more deadly roster.  Martel Webster is a guy who STARTED for them during their amazing run last year and he has yet to even play.  Wow.  Backup PG Sergio Rodriguez has the highest assists per minutes played in the league.  Everyone on this team top to bottom is very efficient.  Jump on these POR spreads cause sooner or later vegas will realize these guys are a threat in the West.

BOSTON CELTICS - 6.0 - - - Blah Blah Blah.  Boston doesn't cover, Boston isn't as good.  Boston this Boston that...they are the Champs and they were ATS machines last year.  I am not giving up on them making me some dough this season.  Nice win against D Town and it will continue against the Tims who always fight.  Don't be fooled by their past 2 meetings, close games but for a reason.  Check the stats for yourself and tell me why it was close...won't happen again.  Boston will beat up on Minny at home like no team has done this season.
4.4 UNITS - - -

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS - 9.5 - - - May lay off betting on them for a bit if they don't cover this game, just can't beleive that the Hornets are gonna flop this year...how?  Their roster is better so why are they loosing?  Can't put my finger on it, West has gotta step up as does Chandler.  They have to fix their backup PG situation and they should be a lock for the 2nd half of the season.  As for Friday night, tell me you don't think they can blow out the lowly Thunder who love getting blown out.  Hornets will be pissed and primed for a beating.

ORLANDO MAGIC - 1.5 - - - Nothing real complicated here,  Risky bet but my gut says Orlando is the better team period.  Orlando is also an excellent road team and has had success against IND recently.  Nothing else really, just a gut bet.

NEW JERSEY NETS + 10 - - - What am I fucking doing?  Why am I betting for that box and his crew when I am going to the game...well best case scenario Raps win by 9 and I win some money.  Nets matchup well vs Raps.  Don't get me wrong Raps are a better team overall however Nets have some deadly players.  Devin harris may expose Jose tomorrow.  Jose still looked injured and a little hurt.  He did not have that explosiveness vs MIA but still got it done.  Cry Baby Carter always plays well in T.Dot and I suspect the Nets may stay single digits.
2.2 UNITS - - -

DENVER NUGGETS + 8.5 - - - Let's hope the back to back and travel from Arizona allows the Nugs to fight them like they fought Boston.  Players like to play in LA in front of stars.  Mello and Billups are no different.  I suspect the Nugs to stay close to the Lakers.

BOS@MIN UNDER 186 - - - Al Jefferson is a defensive stopper and the Minny defense is slightly under-rated.  It has what has allowed them to stay close in all their games.  Boston is the best of the best at rotational defense and will prevent any open looks for shooters on Minny.  Without that, Minny has no chance to score.  I suspect a 91 - 77 final.

Im the blazers number one fan and this game scares me.... I think portland barely squeeks the win but doesnt cover.... then they play the kings either 1 or 2 days later at home and thats when they are going to lay the whoop down... either way this blazers game is better as an indicator rather than a sizeable wager for me...

Mak, like you I'm a Raptors fan, so I'm sure you saw the Magic/Raptors game. Despite CB4's 40 pts, and Jermaine O'Neal matching up pretty well against Dwight, Magic still won... Now they are getting Pietrus back too, who has been playing solid for them.

Tell me who you think is a better team? Raptors or Indy? I say Raptors... So, who does Indy have to play against Dwight? Um... Rasho Nestorovic... yeah he was decent for the Raps last year, but Dwight will own him. Yeah he had a decent game against the Hawks, and he was matched up against... no not Horford (played only 6 mins), but Zaza Pachulia... woohoo. Not only that, but the Indy roster just isn't deep enough to contend against Dwight, Rashard, Hedo, Jameer, Pietrus... they are the highest scoring starting 5 in the league right now. Orlando is 8 of their last 9... Indy is 5-5... beating up on NJ twice, OKC, and a depleted ATL team.

As for your Portland pick... TOTALLY AGREE with your analysis.

Orlando and Portland are my locks for tonight...

I like what u said about the blazers and celtics. I will most likely be playing those games tonight. Though your teasers seems intriguing. We'll see what the spreads are in the morning.

Also, I was able to watch all the Blazers games last year. I have to say Blazers didn't play particularly well in Sacramento ... Granted the Blazers are indeed better this year for sure..

This game will be a good indicator.... not a bet the farm type situation for me... Of course I'm gonna put a couple bucks on 'em though, that's my team!!!

cheers, good analysis, I like Portland's bigs today vs. Sacramento... plus Brandon Roy and even Steve Blake playing well lately.

Also like Denver as they are playing very well with Billups running the show.  Just a little concerned with Denver's size upfront vs. Bynum and Gasol vs. Kenyon and Nene.

I am with you on this one all the way .. betting Orlando -2 (3 units) and waiting to see if I win and might bet (1.5 units) on portland since it's a later game ...  I am a huge Magic fan and go to every home game .. I can tell you they are real streaky ... Depends if Hedo and Lewis are on and if Nelson steps up like last game it's a lock ... Road is good for Orlando, can't seem to understand why they can't do this good at home ... But .. I haven't actually seen the Pacers play this year only seen them on sportsline.com (I need to get the NBA package on directv =) ) but ... I know Orlando, and they have a strong team that could contend at anytime with others but it's a on/off switch .. Hopefully it's on tonight .. I hate betting magic though I always lose because it's my home team so I usually do better on the over/under tonnight's going to change that streak... I wonder if Pietrus is playing though?  I will have to check that before I place my bets ... Redick would probably play in place of him and he's so scared on the floor .. He needs to get some games under his belt ... If he played more he could build confidence but I think when he goes out there he's thinking to himself --- "Damn I need to make this or i won't get anymore minutes" and isn't on his real game which I think he could be decent just needs some court time ...
